So my speedometer was working a few days ago and yesterday my battery died and I got a jump and now it is straight up wiggin out. If I'm driving in first gear it's like following my rpms. When I'm doing 35 it shows I'm doing like 110.. Any ideas what's going on? It's so weird LOL. And on top of that I have a cel light pop on but my code reader and dsmlink isn't showing anything...

About 3 days ago i had turned on my AC for the ride home and once i parked and went to start the car back up the speedometer stopped working along with trip and odmeter. i have changed out the Speed shift senor but it is still not working. looked in the hanes manual and it showes the VSS feeds into the ac system, colling system, and mfi system. I plan on this afternoon pulling the speed sensor out and spining it to see if the needle moves, just to make sure the sensor works. But if is doesnt does anyone know what eles it could be. 98 Eagle Talon, non turbo

Quite possibly You guys fried your pcb boards on the back of your cluster!
Has happened to me in both domestic and imports!
I will never truly understand why many clusters are designed this way.

The speed sensor gear in the tranny is made of plastic u probably striped all the teeth on the gear get a flashlight and look inside the hole where the speed sensor is. Sorry if I'm right it gonna have to drop transmission and have it rebuilt or repaired etc...

so the plastic gear on the trans axle cant be replaced by itself?

I'm pretty sure it can but u have to drop transmission and open it and if your confident mechanically then by all means check fr yourself.

Ok so I pulled the sensor on and started the car I turned the sensor and the speedo registered and was was working. I was able to put my finger in the hole and felt the gear it was connecting to and it did move. My dad suggested getting a pair of needle nose plairs and seeing if an can pull it out or pull it near the sensor
