So I have a crappy ebay god speed external wastegate. I however am having a issue finding a good gasket. My original one got a hole and was leaking. I replaced it with a small metal one. However that melted and had the same issue. I also tried the cut your own gasket. That worked for about a day and have a few other issues not really related to this at all. Back on subject. When I did the one that was make your own. It was basically paper and the guy at A&A said it should withstand the heat. He was clearly wrong and it ended up burning up and caused a major leak. I however removed a small round piece that raised the wastegate from the manifold. It seemed to run a lot better and held its boost. So what kind of gasket does everybody think I should get?

I was looking at graphite aluminum ones by sick speed. I was also thinking of trying that etal one gain since that piece is removed. It may sit better on the manifold.

Next question, I also am not certain if this was the wastegate gasket or the manifold gasket. Since it was dark when I did this. i could not determine. I a guessing manifold gasket. Is their any tips on removing the manifold to replace that gasket. I would ideally, not want to remove the turbocharger since I have the fear of the bolts breaking. I already know it will be hard to get some of the bolts. I hoping to remove the bolts and pull the manifold back while keeping the down pipe and everything attached and scrape the old one off. Then slide the new one in. I know it sadly may not be that easy.

When I had my 420a, I used a metal gasket I found online. I also found out the hard way that paper gaskets could not hold. I believe you will want that metal ring back on the wastegate. Get a metal gasket and torque correctly and you should be good to go again.
