Ok I'm lost now was gonna use ceddy to tune my 99gst black box but it's now gone I need some help I'm gonna be using speed density soon also need help with where I can now find roms.

Read the Ceddymods thread in the ecuflash forum. Also any good evo tuner should be able to tune your car.

I've created raw hex coding and assembly for 92-96 wrxs, and I have much more time into my work than ceddy had porting in evo disassembly done by someone else.

My stuff is freeware. It's to be expected that people do the greater good for the community. In fact, I know of certain companies being threatened with cease and desist orders for selling tunes. These come from the proprietary owners, the OEM's. So for ceddy to expect money from modifying proprietary code is underhanded.
....Sooooo.....are you going to continue the development of using the black box ecu for us all then ? :sneaky::pray::DLOL

I would, but I promise each and everyone using the dsm ecu that it's pointless to go evo8 or link.

Most of you should be using link. Let's say you've got a 2g, and want a cheap tuning solution. Ok, let's start at $100 for an ecu. $25 for Evoscan. May as well do your part and support that which feeds you, so buy the Evoscan cable, $70(?). Now, you've got $200 into just running a h8. Hey, $50 more is an evo8 and an hour max of simple tinkering.

Tephra and his work alone is worth so much money it's insane. I sell a 1/50th of his effort for $150 on eBay regularly in the Subaru world.

I'd rather run an 8 ecu over anything, but damn does ecmlink make it easy. Time is money! Even a few hundred saved here will come back to bite when you can't figure out x or y in setting up z in Ceddymods.

I am in now way doing anything but praising the work of cedey mods, but the door closed and now you better do what is smartest, and I say link or tephra equipped evo8.

In threads like this, ECMlink users who vouch for the software and service always get a bad wrap for being nutswingers. The truth is; customer service, software support and continued development aren't free. Reading threads like this just reaffirm the fact that the $500+ I spent on ECMlink was the best option for me.

That being said, hats off to you guys modifying raw code and tuning with open source software. It's cool to see innovation and thinking outside the box.

The only thing expensive about using the h8 if your car came with it is the cable, and it's less than half the price of using link, plus I haven't had true issues using ceddy's code for now. I was moreso curious to see if you were interested in continuing the h8 development, but nonetheless back on topic LOL! and i checked the website is still down

Im using my blackbox for now, i plan on buying a ecu that is already socketed from someone else on here that lives pretty close to me, that being said he is also going to tune my car via tactrix using open ecu and evo scan for logging he uses the same setup on his evo 8 and his car is frigging nasty, his issue with my car is exactly that (code) im simply looking for someone who has the 98 99 h8 ceddy mod code to make it easier for him....

If it is gone forever, I'll supply the files. I have all the xmls and roms for the MAF and SD both regular and big maps. Let me see if I can get a hold of him and get a response one way or the other.

If I don't hear back from him, I'll share the files.
I am willing to pay the full $30 ceddy wanted for the version 1v9c complete. Does anyone have it?

i own a seed box. i can assemble a torrent and host it if files are located. and if the ceddy site is offline long enough that it appears to be gone forever.
Did you ever get this done?

I should also add i am running a 2.3L stroker with speed density. I paid JestRtuning $150 for an opensource basemap. Will I still need the ceddymods?

Thanks man. I ordered an opensource base tune from Jestr tuning for $150 also. Wondering if I will still need ceddymods?

That depends. Is the $150 just to adjust your tune on a ROM you already have or will they be providing a ROM file of their own? If they are not providing a ROM then you definitely want to have the CeddyMods ROM for them to work on.

Obviously you are not running Speed Density now without the CeddyMods ROM. Are you just saying you want to run Speed Density?

Ceddy is working on getting his site back up. Until then I can get you the Mods ROM if you need it. Just PM me.

I Should clarify. My car was tuned on AEM EMS series 1 by Reid at Kaizenspeed. Last week my injector drivers went out in the AEM EMS. So i am currently trying to get the blackbox tuned with the tactrix cable. I bought evoscan and downloaded the ecuflash 1.44 programs. Here's the link to the program i bought yesterday. https://jestrtuning.com/wp/product/2g-dsm-opensource-basemap/

While they do not say specifically I take from the statement "You will need the Tactrix cable to reflash this basemap to your vehicle." that they will be sending you a ROM file to flash to your ECU. And if this is Speed Density it is going to be the CeddyMods ROM because they did not implement their own Speed Density port to another ROM I can guarantee you that.
