On the 1 thermostat housing there are 2 coolant temp sensors, one for ecu and one for a/c control. I have a 1g head in my 2g and 2gs only have the ecu coolant temp sensor. Does the 2g ecu use the signal from the ecu sensor to control ac or is there an a/c sensor somewhere else on a 2g?

This doesn't answer your question, but corrects your post.
On a 1g thermostat housing there are actually 3 sensors...

On the top half of the housing is an A/C stop switch. If the coolant temp gets too high, this will cut the a/c.

On the lower half of the housing are 2 sensors. The 2 wire sensor goes to the ecu, the 1 wire sensor goes to the dash gauge.

Ecm will fail.safe the ac if temp become too high. 1 wire it to the coolant gauge. Other feeds the ecm readings
