So I got a 420a non turbo 5 speed manual transmission never installed yet it's used I got it with the car that had a bad transmission so this came with it.how do I inspect it b4 I install it I drained gear oil clean no shavings I wiggled input shafts no play up down side to side I don't wanna Crack it open I don't wanna break something

If the shift linkage is installed you could put a clutch disc on the input shaft, engage each gear, and turn it over to feel for missing teeth. Operation wise though, that's a pretty crude sanity check. That doesn't tell you anything at all about synchro operation, bearing condition, pitting wear etc... but it will atleast tell you whether or not the trans is a complete paperweight or not.

this is random but does anyone know the perfect method of putting a 420a eclipse 5 speed tranny into the eclipse (engine already in holding to one mount then) holding the motor with one hydraulic jack then what
should i put the tranny on the jack then jack it up and try and get the tranny with the clutch in it on to the fly wheel and bolt it up

i tried that and it did not work it kept falling
i don't have the money to get a engine hoist and saw a video on youtube to put the tranny in the same way i said it up top but it didn't work for me (gravel drive way)

The way I usually do it, is pull the engine with the transmission. My opinion is that it's less headache even though it's more work. However, when I do leave the engine in the car, I have it held up by the one mount, and then a crossbar type bracing thing I bought long ago to hold the engine. Then left the transmission up with a jack and work it into place.

It also sounds like you're saying you don't have your clutch bolted to the flywheel prior to installing the transmission. That will not work in any sort of way, as your clutch needs to be bolted to the flywheel BEFORE the transmission goes on. If it's automatic, then you don't bolt the torque converter onto the flexplate until AFTER the transmission goes on.

What he said I had the same problem with my gs but what I did was hook some chains to my motor and then to a chain come along hooked it to my rafters in my garage lifted the motor a bit bolted the transmission in place and just kinda wiggled the motor down in and slid them together

See if you can find a chunk of plywood to lay over the gravel. We have the same mess here, no garage and gravel driveway. Another good thing to have is one or two friends to help keep wires out of the way and keep it balanced on the jack, or to call for help if things go terribly wrong. It's a chore replacing a tranny with just a jack, but possible. See if you can lower the motor a little so it's tilted downward towards the trans. Easier to get to all the bolts. Then you can finish jacking everything into place easier.
