im thinking of buying a 4g63 block from an evo2, will it be a replacement for my 420a in my 96 eclipse or will it not fit? theres so many different evos i dont know for sure, ive been searching thru the forums. i was thinking i could use it with the 420a built head i have, i cant tell for sure if the tranny is on the right side for me or not, searching thru pics it seems to be arranged differently on some cars. google search sucks sometimes. if so what all do i need to make this work, its a short block with crank and pistons

Nothin on the 420a will bolt onto the 4g63. They are totally different engines.

The evo engines used in the few 420a to evo 4g swaps that have happened have used evo4-9 engines.

You will also not be able to use the 420a tranny on the evo 4g.

the evo4-9 can i use my head and tranny with that block? or one or the other?

another quick question, why am i still on probation? i have 36 posts now in like a week or two, says i need 30 in 30 days, do i have to wait 30 days?

Probationary just takes time for an aim to click it over.

No 4g63 block/head/tranny will fit any 420a block/head/tranny.

If you swap over to 4g you need all 4g stuff.

4g64 bottom end from 3g eclipse and 8g gallant engine with dohc evo 4-9 head swap. evo ecu and wiring is a must have

what about the srt4 motor, ive heard of people doing that swap are the motor mounts the same and that might be the engine im thinking that the head off mine will bolt onto

Starting build have a 1999 eclipse gs conv. nice cond. 2.4 auto what motor to use the 2.4 block/w/the 4g63/t head or a 4g63/t block w/4g64 crank? what would be cheaper or easier? thanks for any feed back.

The srt4 has been swapped into a N/T eclipse before.

I believe the engine you are thinking of is the 2.4L engine from the 'cloud' cars. Stratus, curris or breeze. The 420a head will fit on that 2.4l bottom end.

i have not seen any in my area for sale,. i did not know there was a better one when i got this one, seen the supercharger and was like ok i want that LOL, maybe after i paint it and get the rest of the parts in and tuned then ill sale it to buy another

you can do the srt4/cloud car swap, but its still got alot of fab included, as well as wiring/ecu.

you could build the 420a, swap it, or go big and do an evo swap. any way you look, its alot of money, and/or fab to do. and in the end ( i hate saying this...) youd be better off buying a 4g based model. ive helped on a cloud car swap (2.4 chrysler motor) and it was enough fab for me to say "eff that". especially for the gain made.

clean it up, sell it, buy a turbo model.

You'll spend less as well.... time AND money.

i think im going to keep my 420a though. cause i already got more money in it then its worth so might as well keep it. but im gonna get a gsx and start playing with it to, lots of these aftermarket parts would work on the gsx so thats cool might swap over shit
