After messing around with the rat rod for four years I just wanted to get back to going fast again. The truck was a blast but, I just have this urge to push further and the truck could not be driven like I wanted. So I set out to finish the FWD build that I started with my Colt. I am going all in like I did with truck and let the creativity just flow. I have a lot of ideas, we will just see how this thing takes shape. I have no time frame or real goals other than to have it down the track this spring. I picked this thing up at the end of January and this is where it stands now.

Oh man that thing is ugly. LOL It'll definitely turn some heads when it's screaming down the track. I vote paint it flat black to help hide the turd-ness :thumb:

Can't wait to see this thing rocket down the strip. Are you going to cage it yourself?

Yes. I have built two cages now. I intend on doing one in this car as well. We are going to give the 14b one more shot with the T3 housing this time on this car. After that I will start to put weight back in it.

I got the fenderwells cut out but, need to cut more into the frame rail on the passenger side to clear the transmission. I also need to cut more of the firewall so I can actually work on the manifold. The good thing i though I would have to cut the driver strut tower to clear the fuel pump but, I turned the pump and it has plenty of room now. I had to cut the motor mount and redo it as it was not even close. I did not change the stock geometry and it was clear it was not going to work. I cut it in half and filled the gap back in. I trimmed off a few brackets that will no longer be used. I am going to have to cut the K-member to clear the back of the transmission.

I am also going to have to figure something out for the steering as the transmission is going to be halfway into the steering rack. That looks like my biggest hurdle on the build though. I also have to cut the frame rail on the driver side so I can continue to run an oil cooler. It clears with the block off fittings just fine but, the hose ands wont even be close. So I have to pull the engine back out so it will be easier to finish all the cutting and welding. Not a big deal as it is held in there by only three bolts right now.

The rear springs came in. Got the old ones out and the new ones installed. Maybe an inch or so shorter if I had to guess(was really just trying to get something that fit). They are 900lb springs. That should keep the weight transfer really far down I hope. I also spent about a half hour and removed all the windows. They came out pretty easy actually.

I look forward to seeing the progress!

If I'm not mistaken, it's a second set of injectors, similar to Boostins Red Demon.

I suppose you are just going to use fuel cooling rather than the tired and true air-air? JK Chris here

What other retard has nazgul? Everyone wants me to put an intercooler but, I have been having success for five years now with this setup so it will be staying. I actually run three fuel rails and ten injectors total. I do not have any better pictures of the rail, it is custom. I designed and built it and had help welding it together.

way to be man! no one can say your wrong or right about how you want to work your setup. Much respect to you.

Thank you. Chris is actually a very good friend. We have known each other for 14 years now. New parts continue to roll in. Look for more updates this weekend.

I got all the tar and sealant out of the window frames today. I also gutted the doors. Surprising how much weight was removed from each door especially given how light this car is to begin with. I need to go and get some more paint so i can paint the frame before the windows go in this week.

Total pain in the ass welding upside down but, the frame rail is clearanced for the transmission. I also figured out where I have to cut the k-member for the differential on the back of the transmission. It looks like I will not have to cut or relocate the steering rack like I originally thought i would(fingers crossed)

WOW! that intake set up is a work of art. i love it ! this build is one to watch. awesome !

Because everyone keeps asking. I have had this setup for six years now. It works very well.

I will have pictures tomorrow. Today was tear down day. I tore down the 4G62 that came out of this car so we can use it another day. I also removed the stock fuel system. I removed the exhaust they had on there as well. Hoping I could solve my positive rear camber issue on the driver side I tore the rear brakes off the car hoping to find my problem. I did not find anything I could fix to correct it but, now I know I have to do some cutting and welding to correct it. It appears the rear axle is bent. I went ahead and moved forward and removed all of the rear brakes, lines and parking brakes. Doing so will force me to put a parachute on the car. Which I want to do anyway. While in the left rear drum, I did find one big problem. The wheel bearing had blown up some time ago. There was nothing left of the cage and inner housing. All the rollers had fallen out as well. I ran to NAPA and grabbed a new race and bearing, repacked and installed it before putting the wheel back on. The other thing I did today was remove the stock shifter base and arms from under the car. I have to go and get some shifter cables and base from a DSM as none of the Cordia stuff is compatible.

So nothing exciting today. And I figure no one wants to see a pile of super dirty junk parts anyway. Tomorrow I am pulling the engine back out to do the final cutting in the engine bay for the new motor and transmission. I hope to have that finished and maybe get the engine back in there tomorrow as well.

Got the firewall boxed and welded back in. Got the left frame rail cut and boxed in for the oil cooler fittings. Got the k-member cut and boxed in the (hopefully) clear the differential on the transmission. Then spent the last part of the night cleaning and painting the engine bay. I will drop the motor back in tomorrow for what I hope is the last time for a while. I also blocked off the distribution block for the rear brake lines and got the final piece to the puzzle(almost) to covert my car to methanol full time.
