i bought this car already like this, only alittle info from last owner on it and im trying to figure out how these cars are tuned,, my last car used a handheld tuner called an xcaliber, but these are different, also i need to know what kinda injectors i need. owner said it was running 18 psi on the super charger but i recently figured out its more like 8 psi. i hear people saying 6 bolt and 7 bolt, how do i find out what i got here? i think its a gs but im not even sure it dont say on the car or the title. any help would be great!!

i know its fwd and has had alot of things put on it, racing seats. sc, some venom 400 thing but its unhooked, msd ignition, stage 2 clutch, blow off valve, steering wheel, body kit, tail lights and head lights changed, lots of stuff, i have receipts for the cams that were put in it also and has aem adjustable cam gears

You should contact the PO for how that thing was tuned and what injectors are on it. You should have done a little more homework before buying something that modified. The engine you have there is a 420a. Originally, that motor was used in non-force inducted DSM's. There are a number tuning possibilities for your car. I am not very familiar with the 420a platform, so maybe you should check out the NA forum. You will have a lot of homework to do figuring what was done to the car you bought.
 
its an 8 bolt engine 420a. originally a non turbo engine and cant handle very much boost on stock internals. I've never seen a gm supercharger added on though. isn't the bov useless on a supercharger which also should use an intercooler?
 
That supercharger looks like something out of mad max with it sticking out of the hood.

That is the first supercharged 420a I have seen.

You don't have to use an Intercooler with a supercharger just like you don't have to with a turbocharged car.
 
its a supercharger from a super coupe ford thunderbird eaton m90. it has to have a bov due to the way its routed, it runs threw the throttle body most superchargers push straight into the intake of the car, this is what i was told by the previous owner. i asked about that to when i seen it LOL, i am going to put an intercooler on it soon, i just talked to the old owner on the phone, took a bit to get ahold of him, forgot to ask about the cams but the engines built, weisco pistons and eagle rods so he says anyways, he seems like he knows what hes talking about, im a mechanic and have been for 15 yrs now but not familiar with this engine or car for that matter. i know it runs good and its fast. i just did not know the specs, he says its tuned and was done by a local shop but i did not ask how it was done. is there a handheld type of tuner for it? or computer program where i can change specs?

trying to also think of paint colors, soon as it warms up here its getting all stripped down and redone, but sense the seats are red i dont have many choices, im going to paint it gun metal grey i think and i guess the engine parts will have to be red to match properly

any ideas on the size i need of an intercooler? i see alot of 28 inch
 
dsm link? ive been reading about it and you can choose 2g as the platform. so i assumed it would work with my 2g

it might be easier for me to just send my ecm to get tuned. seems like that's what a lot of the 420a guys are doing or get a megasquirt stand alone.

Previous owner sent the ecm to jegs and they done something to it, cost a lot to but i cant tell from the receipt what they did to it.

ok, figured out what a piggy back is, i have one already just did not know what it was called, i have a venom 400 installed and a jet performance chip that the last owner sent to jegs to get installed in the ecm

Your best bet would probably be megasquirt. Jet chips and stuff like that are pretty limited in what they can do and aren't going to help much with larger injectors or tuning a car with a supercharger. You have a very unique situation since you are one of very few people to have a supercharged 420a so its going to be hard to find answers to some of your questions.
 
Megasquirt. Probably have it professionally tuned. There are not many supercharged 420a eclipses out there. Could be a nightmare

Try out the 420a, srt, and edz page on facebook. They should be able to help you.
