You will get a variety of responses. I would recommend the advice of supporting vendors that service our trans-axles. Many of them have their own write-ups on their site. Redline fluids tend to be among the most popular brands. There is even debate on which Redline fluids people tend to use as they have a variety for different conditions.
Valvoline is yellow metal safe. I havent seen any reviews on it thats why im asking. Ive seen good and bad reviews on Pennzoil and ive seen reviews on offbrand gl-5 oils but never on valvoline synchromeshWhy could that be?

I understand that Redline gl4 is the popular prefered oil. But im only trying to use what i can get my hands on. I dont have any places here that sell redline oil. The only gl4 oil that ive seen is a 140 weightNone of the "synchro" gear oils provide adequate protection for our transmissions. They do help the synchronizers work better due to increasing friction, but the bearings, and hard parts pay the price.

Really, any conventional 75w-85, or 80w-90 GL-4 tranny fluid will work fine. Vavoline makes an excellent GL-4 fluid that works.
