I dig it. It seems like a pretty clean car. Its even got the jade green that came on the 97 talons that I love.

Im just wondering how hard it will be to work on. I've always heard the 3000gt vr4's were a pain.

That thing is pretty sweet looking. I'd want to ask the owner a bunch of questions before taking the leap and buying it. Price seems fair, the body looks clean... I'd want some better pics; shot of the interior, pics of the underbody, and possibly from the build. I say go for it.

You're better off sticking with a 4G6X engine. The 6A12TT is a 2.0 and not well supported. It doesn't rev high, doesn't have any additional displacement and has more than twice as many issues/failure points as a 2.0 4 cylinder. If you're curious about them go check out TheGalantCenter.org and read up on some of the 7th gen Galant VR-4's from overseas. They look like the Galant in my profile. There is a good reason I went with a 4G64 hybrid in my old build instead of the 6A12TT.

The DSM platform, while awesome and reliable if the owner is meticulous and maintains their car, is notoriously finicky. Taking a foreign platform and grafting it's internals into this chassis seems silly when a 4g63 can make more power than you'll ever need on mostly stock parts and electronics. Unless you just are dying to have that one off feel, I'd really choose to stick with a clean normal GSX that has the best 4cyl in the world and optimize that platform. You don't know if these guys had to chop half the support structure to get that big horizontal V6 in there and the only benefit of doing so is to get the Getrag trans off the VR4's which this doesn't have. Basically you've taken an already heavy car, added weight in exactly the wrong spot, and messed with all the electronics in a one off way that no one else will be able to help you with if you have problems.

With all that said, it does look clean and it is very unique so if you have good mechanical aptitude and are knowledgeable to know how to do everything on your own already then pick that sucker up, give it a good once over and clean up any shoddy swap work, and show it off! GL with your decision

I own one with this exact swap. Do some research on where you can order parts or where he gets his. I don't know about him but just to get timing belt and tensioner involved having it shipped to Canada and having a friends dad pick it up and bring it back stateside as all the companies would not import to US. This was in '06/'07 and a lot has changed but I'm still having a problem trying to find parts. You can look into RPW in Australia for some stuff like cams and pistons but just replacement parts are hard. If you do happen to get this and find parts let me know! Or if he happens to know.

i think its one big headache . you are better off looking for a regular 4g63t eclipse .

I wouldn't even dare it. You have zero idea how good the welds are for all the structural modifications and engine mounts, not to mention the maintenance and support issues it brings with it, as previously mentioned.

Thanks guys. You guys are right, finding parts would be too much of a PITA, I am just gonna stick with my GST for now and bide my time until i find a clean GSX.

Nothing is changed structurally. It is a direct drop in as long as you have the 6a motor mounts. You can just bolt the motor to the eclipse tranny or use the jdm. As far as revving, my auto shifts at 7k. Guy that built it said it could go higher.

With the price tag , you could have 4g63 with a lot of mods that would turn just many heads. On top of that someone would have to know what there looking at when you show them for them to really appreciate the work involved.

the engine bay looks well done but thats it, the rest looks haggered IMO. if it was 4k or less then maybe but 10k no freak'n way.
plus all the above mentioned things, if your GST's clean just AWD swap it. You folks have an endless supply of parts for cheap down south there.

Are we all looking at the same ad? Clean? You guys must be referring to the PT Cruiser in the background. You can hardly tell anything from the garbage pictures in the ad, and from what I can see nothing is clean about that car.

Fair price? You'd have to pay me 10k to deal with that train wreck. Save your money, OP.

Post some pics of it.
