My steering clicks when ever I turn the steering wheel to the left. It'll give one click when I turn it left and then two quick clicks when it goes back to the right. If I turn the wheel to the right it wont make a noise until I bring the wheel back to the left where it'll give that one click then when I turn it right again it'll give the two quick clicks. Also noticed that it mostly does this when the car isn't moving. It'll do it occasionally while I'm driving. Does anyone know what this could be my guess is the left inner tie rod. Its a 98 eclipse spyder gs

You have ball joints on the outer tie rods.

It would be best to visually inspect it, jack the car up and take a look at your front suspension. Check the cv axles too, when they start going out, sometimes they will make a noise when you are turning as well. Check for outer tie rod boots blow out, or grease around them, check cv axle boots and make sure they are in tact and havent been leaking grease, finally if all that checks out then I would suspect the inner tie rods or rack and pinion. Oh, but check all the ball joints and bushings, I see far too many cars almost everyday driving around with blown out ball joints and or bushings, most people never want to get them fixed when i point it out either.

clicking is more cv shafts, ball joints normally make a clunking noise when traveling over bumps or rough roads

usually cv axle clicks are a little more than just a couple clicks though also. I was thinking it may be a cluck but is being described like a click. I was leaning more towards cv axle as well though, if it is a clicking noise

Probably inner tie rod. Take the wheel off, put a jack under the steering knuckle to simulate weight, and have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you listen and feel different spots. You'll feel it right away when you pinpoint it.

I say cv shaft. But only way to really tell is inspect. Jack the front end up under the control arm, to isolate your suspension. And make sure you look over everything. Use a large prybar under the center of the tire and pry up and down while having someone or other way you look. Your looking for movement at the ball joints. Cv shaft look for ripped boots and over all slop. Also inspect tierods, you want the tire on and you simple shake the tire firmly back and forth while another person looks listens and feels for the play. sway bar links, sometimes when they break and are flopping around, can hit the axle and cause noise.

Thanks for your help everyone, wasn't cv axles though, around a week a go a gallon of water flew out of a truck under my car and I looked and a piece of it got caught in the inner tie rod boot so every time I turned left it snagged against the underbody making the clicking noise but do have to get boot replaced since it did rip
