I have a 4g64 Spyder 2g. I just wanna know how to figure where is was made, under the hood says Mitsubishi Motors of America so technically does that make it a DSM?

So it was made in the USA, a friend tried to tell me only the 4g63 na and turbo were the only DSMs that were made in USA, so technically no 2g eclipses/talons were made in japan?

If you young-ins want to get technical, the Diamond-Star Motor facility was changed to MMMA somewhere around 1995. Technically any "DSM" Eclipse or Talon made after that, is not a "DSM" even though they are widely adopted as 1990-1999 model year Laser, Talon, or Eclipse. That makes most 2gs, technically not a DSM due to the name change because Mitsubishi and Chrysler parted ways leaving Mitsubishi in charge of the facility. All 1990-1994 Eclipses, Talons, and Lasers were built at the DSM facility.

The Galant VR-4 imported from Japan being made at the Nagoya facility.
Here is some bonus info:
The 3000GT, Stealth, and GTO were also imported from Japan also made at the Nagoya facility. GTO being dropped from name plate outside of Japan because of the Ferrari GTO and Pontiac GTO.

If you really wanted to know exactly where and when your car was made/manufactured. You could always follow the VIN and track down the numbers using a VIN guide online and that will tell you when where and even what month your car was released.

All Laser, Talon, and Eclipse VINs (1990-1999) begin with 4 (USA). The 11th digit will be E (DSM or MMMA - >1995). Only one location.

Bonus bonus info. Mitsubishi Evolution is produced in Mizushima Plant in Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan with the power trains being produced in Mitsubishi power train plant in Shiga, Japan. So technically it is not a dsm either. But seeing how the true heart of a dsm is the 4g63 and those where produced in Japan and the only real contributions Chrysler ever made was sheet metal that was copied from mitsubishi blueprints no dsm is truly dsm. I'll just refer my car to a mitsubishi and leave the chysler junk to the srt4 guys which is funny that Chrysler tried to copy the 2.4l 4g64 and add a turbo that can npt be swapped without replacing the whole exhaust manifold. FAIL!
