I'm completely torn on this. I was originally going to get a full paint job but with all the rust it's not worth it, so going to plastidip. It's a Spyder with black top and black emotion kai wheels. I was originally going to do orange, then thinking white for the panda look. Maybe blue now LOL Anyone seen any in person plastidipped dsms? I'm doing it this Saturday

i was actually thinking about dipping my spyder gst midnight blue i was gonna mix my own color to get that. but i dipped my 135i white with black roof and its been almost a year and no one has messed that up.

Treat the rust spots first or else the Plastidip's going to look like crap where you sprayed over the oxidized areas. Sand the oxidized areas down to bare metal, apply a primer, then dip the car.

Plastidipping your car is very cost effective compared to the other alternatives (vinyl wrap, professional paint) but it still takes a lot of work and time prepping if you don't want it to look half ass. Do it right, do it once, and be happy with it after you're done...

I recommend grabbing a few bottles of citrus cleaner too, Plastidip over spray on windows is a bi*** to get off without it. As for the color, that blue 2g up above is (or is very close to) Plastidip's "Flex Blue" color. If it were my car and I was trying to make it look decent I'd get the kit from DipYourCar and add the glossifier to the color.

Thanks for all the feedback. The rust isn't on the outside at all it's all structural in the rocker panels, wheel wells, and under the car eating away. I figure this car will only last so long so going to try to do the dip. I love doing things myself and even if it gets messed up i'll still have tried and get the experience and learn from it. Only costing $100 for the paint so no real loss

She was once dipped and it did not last at All it began to bubble and peel on its own. And when its time to remove the dip will pull off your paint in the process.

Sorry, but that was a result of inproper prep and amount of coats. If you would've done it right, it wouldn't have ended up like that.

doesn't matter how many coats, and Andrew< don't be sorry (cause your not) you all ready decided i must be wrong, and some how an exception to tales of perfection, based on your plethora of experience with plastic paint. -Im out; no point in helping those who refuse it.
Well I am sorry, because I sound like a dick. But from my experience, if you don't use enough coats, it doesn't peel right. Also, if you use dip remover from dipyourcar.com, it comes off wayyyyy easier.

I got in a fender bender and am getting a new fender and front bumper, I plan on doing mine with alien gc-47 from dipyourcar.com

Make sure you post how it looks! May help me decide if I want to go that route.

I say go ahead and dip it. From my experience dip is great. As far as peeling the real paint I just peeled my 135i today and my factory black paint is still in great shape the way it was. And as long you apply enough coats I had 4-5 coats it peels off extremely easy. Took only 15-20 min to peel the entire car. Only advice I have to you is open the doors and hood and trunk and tape that off because that's not shown in dyc videos. Something I will for sure do when I dip my spyder once it warms up

When I get it done I'll make sure I post about it
