Well, there are really only two possibilities. Either your PCV system is not working (replace the PCV valve with an OEM Mitsu only), or you have excessive blow by from leaking piston rings causing your crank case to pressurize.
PCV is completely by-passed, intake port blocked and line looped to intake snorkel. Compressions just fine.

Changing turbine housings made a huge difference over the one that blew, so that was part of my problem.
I did how ever refine my search a little and found valve seals mentioned a few times.....anyone confirm this?
 
Definitely, if valve seals are leaking then you will have crank case pressure issues as well. Does the car puff a bit of smoke right at start up? Also, I hate compression tests, they dont give accurate results in my mind. If I want to know the condition of an engine, I will always give it a leakdown test. Not only does this give a more accurate representation of motor health, it also will indicate what is wearing out.
 
Honestly not that I know of, I'm running just off the O2 housing again and I haven't noticed anything on start up at all. I'm also thinking the excessive crank pressure probably had a factor in blowing my other turbo.
If I had a leak down tester I'd definitely use it but I don't, are they decently pricey ($100+) or cheaper?
 
I have a leak down tester you could use, but they need a decent sized air compressor. do you have access to a 60 gal compressor at all?
 
All I have is a 30 gal 3.5 hp compressor, don't know if it would cut it or not.
anyone have a good valve spring compressor as well? or where to buy one? I may as well swap out my valve seals soon to, got some sitting in the parts box taking up room any ways.

@mike & Andrew, you Gents game for helping my clear out some of the clutter in my tight stock engine bay? I don't know where to start haha
 
That compressor should be enough.

It'd be a little bit before I'd have time, but big question is if you have a heated garage or not. LOL
 
The only spring compressor I have is one that requires the head to be off the car.

Same idea, it might be spring until I get to work on other projects.
 
Yup I got a nice warm garage.
Hoping work picks up soon so I have some coin to throw around again.
I know I seen one last year that you just bolt to the lower cam caps and as you tighten it it compresses the valve spring. cant remember where i seen the link tho
 
just google it some dude made one just out of some junk in 2006 looks easy. and throw some yarn in the hole first so the valve has nowhere to go. id whip one up, but dont need it. bi also have a head off one.

I'm thinking i'll probably just end up buying one soon. Also hoping i can afford another welder here at tax time so i can fab up my own intakes and exhaust to keep costs down.

Finally getting back to work.. finally can start saving up for the 3kgt rebirth.

Mike i'll take your suggestion and pull the engine/trans its going to need a clutch anyways.. Got her into my spot.. sitting outside collecting snow... but I've dug around and keep it cleared off.

got a few nice finds... I got 13b turbos not the stock 9b's !!! got a dp and exhaust on the wishlist.

Well I picked up DSMlink, such a damn good deal that the 3 hours of sleep I got last night was worth it! haha
paid $420 for it plus it came with a second ecu board already socketed with another link chip installed on it (supposedly blown).......now I just need to trade it for a 1g setup and I'm golden!
 
so you bought Link for a 2g?
 
Or you could wire a 2g ECU into your car, then your 2g MAF will work right away. LOL

March 15th im heading stateside :) Going back to work.. Flatdecking to the USA :) and back... Gone till June, hopefully hae 5G or more into the rebuilt. I decided this year is a get her on the road , do all maintence and just enjoy the fun.. New Gauges boost controller hoping for 16psi 1.2 bar Maf dp and catback this years

Awesome! I just got laid off today...... so I'm needing a new job LOL
I'd try doing long haul states side like you but I'm far to in-experienced yet to feel confident in my ability to navigate and not get pissed off at traffic....:D rammy ramy rammy! green light mofo's go already!
 
For this year the VR-4 is getting two piece driveshaft and full exhaust with tax money and then hopefully later on in the year do suspension on the GSR-4.
