I have a 92 plymouth laser rs (awd, turbo) that I just bought that starts but then dies about 1-2 seconds later. When I got it it hadn't ran for a year or so. I have replaced the battery, plugs, wires, fuel filter, fuel pump, ECU, cam angle sensor, throttle position sensor and removed the vacuum lines and blocked off the EGR. I unplugged the fuel rail and cranked it over and it is getting fuel. Not sure what else to try.. any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Where did you get the replacement ECU? Did you get a used one, a re-capped one, or new? My Laser had the same symptoms a long time ago and once I replaced the caps I've never had a problem with the ECU. I'd check into it after all the things you've done to it.

It came out of my friends car so I know it worked. Oh and there is oil in the cylinders...

do you hear a clicking noise from under the dash as you're cranking it at all or do your dash lights flicker any while its running for those few seconds? had that happen once with an eagle summit and come to find out, i forgot to reattach the ground wire from the frame to the intake so it was losing ground for the entire car

No clicking, no flickering, I realized earlier today that the oil is in the hose going from the inter cooler to the plenum. There is an oil leak on the side of the turbo but I'm not sure if it is related to the issue. Also I noticed that when the car dies I can hear the boost coming out of the exhaust but it sounds louder than normal. is it possible my turbo is shot? Could that be why oil is getting into the intake system and cylinders?

Do a compression check on the engine. Could have very little and not high enough to sustain it. Would explain the oil in cylinders and intake hose blow by from bad rings.

Are you getting spark? I fried an igniter once. It started but as soon as it warmed up it would sputter and die. It worsened the more I tried to start it. Probably a good idea to check for spark.. I hope that helps.
