What is a stage 1 upgrade?

That being said the tuning of the dsm ecu's is strongly supported by the aftermarket. Ecmlink being the most common and easiest to use, but if you are handy with less user friendly interfaces, a flashable ecu, or burning your own EPROM chips is an option.

You can get away with using the stock tune as long as you aren't upgrading injectors, or flowing a good deal more air than a stock setup. Running more then a couple psi over stock on the stock turbo, or adding a larger aftermarket turbo would be situations where you would want to install an upgraded fuel system, and tune the ecu.

im refering to the basic 2g upgrade paths on this forum. writing just stage 1 upgrade was mistake. im not familiar with ecu's in general, thats why im here on the newbie thread.
I have a goal to tune my dsm to about 300 whp, but there is no point to throw alot of aftermarket parts into the car without considering remapping of the ecu?

i can go more into detail... i have installed 3"downpipe + catback, and are going to install a air intake and a new tial qr bov. im also looking for a fmic. im planning to stick with the T25
