Looking for tire size suggestions for a fwd with a Quaiffe LSD. This will not be for daily use so i dont mind the fuel economy or how it will look. Basically im debating on 225/45-16 and 235/40-17 and am looking for the best launch and acceleration combo. I know the common /typical size is 225/50-16 but i believe the smaller diameter will offer the better acceleration without sacrificing the launch since the tire width is right on target. Need people to shed some light on whether there is a "too small" on tire diameter or if my idea isnt right.

Which tire you pick is more important than the size.. I run 225-45-17 ..big gforce (tire spinning 1-3rd) old used big drag radials (lil spin 1st -2nd) and hoosiser qtp no spin ever if you have 300hp+ your gonna need the drag radials

Definitely Hoosier QTP or some other street legal slick. I have 205mm Hankook ventus all season tires on stock 16 inch wheels and spin in first and second with a quaife LSD. You want as wide of a tire you can get with FWD.

Diameter should be determined by rim selection. The width of the rim will have a range of tire widths that work for that rim. I would think you may want the widest tire for your rim width. Tread compound, sidewall stiffness, and tread design are really important in selection. What do you plan to do with the car? What is your driving style? Would you rather focus on cornering, going in a straight line? No one also mentioned your budget either.
