So I have a 94 talon tsi. It has several mods done to it, and the stock boost gauge is wired up to read Knock. So every once in a while when I'm driving the stock boost gauge spikes (reading knock) and the car has like no power when this happens. Then it goes away after a min. This happens under normal driving conditions, and sometimes when I try and accelerate. When it happens I let off the gas because I'm sure its not good.. But my question is what is causing this to randomly happen? Some days it happens alot, other days it never happens, or may not happen for weeks at a time. .. So I'll list my mods so that maybe that will help. Also the car is an auto.

16g turbo
680cc injectors
ECU Chip tune
2g Maf
2.5 intercooler pipes/ Big front mount IC
Full 3in. exhaust
Tubular manifold
3in. o2 housing with open dump
255 Walbro pump

I'm probably forgetting somethings, but thats most of it. So if anyone has any insight on whats causing my issue please let me know!! Thanks.

If you havent on a 2g, The easiest way to remove the axle is to take a big flat head screw driver or flat end crow bar, put it between the trans and axle, wedge it in vertically, a slight 15 degree tilt is ok, and use a hammer to pound it up toward the engine, one or two good smacks and this will separate the axle from the motor by overcoming the snap ring's death grasp!

if you got the brand

Autozone new axles are not horrible.. refurbished suck.. advanced auto Ive used as well.. we usually stock up on axles for track cars because they almost always break at a launch

I've broke 3 brand new autozone axles in 2 week period. I will stick with horrible :D Been launching and abusing this tough one axle daily and I'm loving it! I don't like advanced much more, but they have better quality parts "moog" and their online promo's make them cheaper then anyone out there!

Why not just buy some really nice axle's that hold more power? I saw some that were like $800 LOL I just can't afford tha right now

I have a 1g tsi.. not a 2g. And my axle is loose and flopping around so will I still have to beat on it for it to come loose?? LOL Loose on the engine side of th axle

This is for a Camry, but same steps to get the axle off the hub. Use the other method I said above to remove it from the trans.

Getting it back in, you want to feel it click in, it does take some force, but be careful not to destroy the boots or pull the yolks apart.

Didn't even realize it said you were from Indy too! LOL I work at a Huntington Bank on east washington street. I live around the Oaklandon/Lawrence area. Where are you located?

I have a Red with black top 94 Talon TSi, lowered on white wheels and huge front mount.. maybe you've seen it?

Global ATF, not conventional. Just about any parts store should have it.

Nope haven't seen ya yet :D I wouldn't forget that 1g :)

I live over by 86th and Ditch st and work at the St V's Hospital on 86th.
I've not seen many eclipses, and the one's I seen "maybe 1 or 2 decent ones" were all N/A's.
I've not seen a 1g yet, so you'd stick out!

Well I really need some help on this! What all do you have to undo after you pull the wheel off? And what size is the big nut on the end with the pin? Also, I can tell my axle broke off inside the trans, so how would I pull that out? If you can call or text me 217-273-0542

Ok got the 32mm socket for the end nut but CAN NOT bust it loose!! Any ideas? Sprayed it and let it sit still won't budge....

And a long piece of pipe on that breaker bar! Or a VERY strong impact wrench, not a cheap one.

I'll shoot you a text after work, I don't have nothing planned this weekend and the lady is picking up a shift, so I'll have some free time, would be happy to help ya out and meet another Fellow indy dsm'r!!

Hey that would be awsome! Wouldn't mind meeting up, and I could really use the help on this. I'll go buy a breaker bar after work today and hope that works. But even for the rest of the job I could really use the help! Need to get it back up on the road asap.

We got snow coming Saturday night :( So that sucks.
It's a pretty quick job on a 2g, I'm sure it's almost identical to the 1g process.

Do you have a garage or will we be braving the elements?
