Hey guys,
A few years back my dad gave me his 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS. He loved this car and had work done on it in the past. He doesn't remember all of the things that he had done on it, but I can tell you that it is not your standard RS. The only things that are easily noticeable is the after market intake, and the exhaust. Don't worry, he did not put on a "fart cannon" this is a mean sounding exhaust. He also told me that he had the engine worked on, but does not know what his friends did. He was just surprised by how it performed once he got it back. What I was wondering was, what can or should i do next to bring my car to the next level. Ok, I know that my version has the 420A engine, that many may argue does not have the capabilities of the 4g63. But, what can this car achieve? I have read forums of people turboing the 420A, but many have argued that it would be better to buy a GST or GSX due to the factory internals not being able to put up with a turbo. Thank you, and I am happy to be a part of DSM tuners.
Summary Questions:
What can be done to bring RS to next level?
Is Turboing worth it?
Websites and Parts that I should be looking for?

A lot of the part manufacturers on this site can get you the parts you need. Realistically you'll need a stronger transmission, clutch, and you'll probably want to upgrade your differential as well since you're on FWD. How much are you able to spend for the car? It may be cheaper to just upgrade straight to a GSX or GST.

Thanks Ferp,
That is what I have heard. The cost just to mod this to the level of the GSX or GST's could probably buy me one. I am definitely looking around for a GSX because I would like AWD. How much would u say it could cost me to do the mods that you listed?

Yeah, I have heard of people doing this swap successfully. It bolts similarly to the 420A and would be an awesome swap! I just wanted to get some ideas of what I could do. Thanks for the ideas guys. I will definitely be looking around.

For a clutch I have the ACT-2100 which I love and I have a Quaife Limited Slip Differential. The lsd is like $1200 though but it works wonders. You'd also want to get a front mount intercooler while you're swapping, which can range $300-$1200. An exhaust/bov would be necessary. I think you would be better off just finding a GSX or a GST, just remember to take your time and not to buy one thats beat on.
