So I have a 94 talon tsi. It has several mods done to it, and the stock boost gauge is wired up to read Knock. So every once in a while when I'm driving the stock boost gauge spikes (reading knock) and the car has like no power when this happens. Then it goes away after a min. This happens under normal driving conditions, and sometimes when I try and accelerate. When it happens I let off the gas because I'm sure its not good.. But my question is what is causing this to randomly happen? Some days it happens alot, other days it never happens, or may not happen for weeks at a time. .. So I'll list my mods so that maybe that will help. Also the car is an auto.

16g turbo
680cc injectors
ECU Chip tune
2g Maf
2.5 intercooler pipes/ Big front mount IC
Full 3in. exhaust
Tubular manifold
3in. o2 housing with open dump
255 Walbro pump

I'm probably forgetting somethings, but thats most of it. So if anyone has any insight on whats causing my issue please let me know!! Thanks.

On my way home tonight I decided to do a launch. The car stalled up to about 3800 RPM's, it started to inch forward and just as I was going to let off the brake I heard a loud CLUNK! Something in the transmission broke? The car still drove home, but it was making kind of a rotating clunking noise and trans. fluid was pouring out. Any thoughts on what broke? Do I need a whole new trans?

Doesnt sound promising.. if its awd you may be lucky and just be transfer case... id build something bulletproof the firat time and be done.

I have a spare auto trans in my garage ill be beefing up for my own backup

It is all wheel drive. And like I said the car was still driving, it was just making a light rotating clunk while driving, mainly only on decel when i let off the gas.... the fluid is pouring out near the passenger side wheel, if this helps any? How can I figure out if its just the transfer case or something more serious?

Going to have to take it apart unfortunately

So basically just find a new transmission and replace it? and do some mods to it while i can?

ok... new news. Just got under the car for a better look and found the the front passenger side axle is just flopping around and the fluid is coming out between where the axle goes into the transmission. So is the transmission actually broken, or just an axle????

Also, when i pulled up into my driveway I put the car in park and it starting rolling backwards.. does that tell you anything? Also, in drive it slowly rolled backwards unless i gave it gas, then it went forwards.

So you really think it may just be the axle? is that axle the lock axle when you put it in park? I just don't want to waste money replacing that if the trans is still bad!!! But like I said the car drove and shifted fine the way back home. I was just hearing the flopping noise of that broken axle i think.

Its very possible and if its flapping its bad now anuway.. should be like 60 bucks to find out. id do that before disecting trans

Also, can you point me in the right direction as to where to purchase just the front passenger side axle? For a good price of course!

Perfect. Thanks I'll stop by autozone tomorrow then. How difficult is the swap? Never done an axle before.

awesome, alright well my friend and I are going to try and tackle this either tomorrow night or the next. I'll keep you posted on anything new!

I sure hope i don't need a new transmission.... Just don't have the extra money right now. In the mean time I have to drive a Jetta that doesn't have heat!!

I'd rather drive a 10 second honda!!! LOL I bet it has heat!!!! but like i asked before, could a broken passenger side axle leak transmission fluid??
