Hey guys quick question I had a nice 2g eclipse gsx but unfortunately it always had stupid problems and would never run, same thing with my buddy's gst. My question is if I buy a medium mileage 2g gs will I have the same problems or should it run just like any other jap 4 cylinder.
Thanks
Ryan

Depends how much you like having a Chrysler N/T engine. All engines run as well as they are taken care of. At least you won't have to worry about any turbo problems and there are many more 2g N/T than 2g turbos out there!

If you don't want to put in the wrench time and spend the necessary money to keep the car running, then try something like a civic. These car (especially the tubo kind) eventually need some tlc. High horsepower needs high attention

Less stuff to go wrong on a GS, so by reasoning less maintenance, but any car will fall apart if ya don't take care of it. Also though, a turbo does put a LOT of stress on an engine, even though they're built for it I think they are a higher maintenance machine than n/t. IMHO though having a DSM w/o a turbo is like a vegan hamburger! :nono:

I'll have you know vegan hamburgers are astoundingly good. Can't knock it until you've tried it (at least a high quality one).

TL;DR: different strokes for different folks. Choose what's within your budget and ability to manage. They can be a handful.

I imagine the the RS/GS would be about as dependable as the Neon.
A Neon might be better since it has 4 doors for passengers. Josh
