Hey guys! I ended up making a junkyard trip yesterday and found a non turbo 4g63 shortblock. The entire engine assembly was untouched so I had to basically break down the whole engine. I first pulled the pan and found about 4-5 small aluminum chunks inside. I figured that the engine spun a l bearing. I checked for crankshaft endplay and got .004mm. So the end play was in spec. I pulled all of the mains and there seemed to be some uneven wear on a couple but nothing too serious. I then checked the rods and it looked like #1 and #4 rod bearings spun. They weren't totally destroyed but they did have scorch type wear on both the bearing and rod caps. All of the crankshaft journals appeared to be fine. Nothing a polish wouldn't take care of. My question is could the block and crank still be in good enough condition for a rebuild. I will measure out the rest of the clearances and such but I want to be sure! Thanks a lot!
