All "my car won't start" discussion threads are merged HERE. We've basically made it easier for those who insist upon not searching by grouping together all threads from those with similar issues so you can just scroll through and see some possible solutions. To search for info within this thread, use the "Search This Thread" feature in the black bar about 3" above what you're reading right now.

Could be anything from a loose battery terminal to internal engine damage, and literally everything in between which may involve the electrical, fuel, and ignition system...possibly even something that you screwed up while working on the car yourself. While it's unlikely we're going to diagnose and solve your problem over the internet, feel free to discuss any possible solutions.

I live in Canada and right now its not very warm out, about -30c
my car does not have a block heater too keep it warm.

I tryed to start my car this morning and it wouldent start, ive had this problem before but this time, the car doesnt crank at all it just makes a sound that sounds like an electric drill.

Whats wrong.

Thanks

You could start by trying a known good battery to eliminate that. From there I would check your ground. If it still doesn't work, full the starter and bench test it. I just went through the same issue with my car.

The smaller (tubular looking) piece attached to the main part of starter. Starter is under the intake manifold. Just look at your trans and follow it towards the firewall and you will see the 2 bolts that need to be removed. If you take the battery out you get more room. Then just unbolt the power wire and unplug the connector to remove. The solinoid is facing up I believe. Best pic I could find at the moment. But that's it circled in red, just imagine yours with the head on.

Both methods have worked for me. If you have a friend that can do it while you crank it's better. If not then hit it 5-8 times yourself then quickly go try and crank the car! :) just did one the other day by myself and the car fired up again.

use an rod or something metal ( i use rebar works great) but the buzzing noise you hear is most likely the starter trying to push the gear out to the fly wheel if its not the battery 99% of time is just a bad starter

Stand on the passenger side and look just below the intake. You will see the solenoid ontop of the starter. I suggest having someone trying to crank while you hit it. I used a prybar to do so, I had to beat mine pretty good to get the car started to limp home. If it catches or starts to crank any, you will know this is your issue.

Alright Guys
95 eclipse gst
wont start not getting voltage to the pump and not getting start out of the coil
i have replaced the Ignition Control Module, Starter relay and the MPI
I was driving just fine then i rolled up to a stop light and I heard a click, like a relay, and then i noticed my car was off. It wouldnt start back up the starter engages but I no power to the fuel pump and not getting any arc from coils.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP

It could be your starter, is the car turning over? Or no?

If no, then your starter is spinning but not projecting outward to touch the flywheel and engage it.
*** scratch that above.
Where did the click come from?
Underneath the steering wheel? Behind the radio? If it just died on you it could be because of fuel, did it die slowly? Or did it stop abrutly

Check fuses and relays. When turn you key to on position do you see you check engine light on. If you dont see you engine light check you ecu. Had semilar problem changed bot crank and cam sensor fuses and relays ended up to be ecu.
