Should I get this kit and order auto tensioner somewhere else since it's not included? Is auto tensioner something needed anyway? Is this kit missing anything else that I should be changing because seen other kits for much higher price but they do include other components..

Are there 6-bolt/7-bolt motor difference because this kit says for all '90-94 dsm's and I have a '93 7-bolt. I'm going to keep my balance shafts intact so I need to change that belt too and is that the 'accessory belt' they're showing in this ebay kit?

Oh yeah, should I get a water pump too? Where to get a decent one for cheap?

Thanks!

I wouldn't trust that kit on my cars!! Timing components are not something you want to skimp on bro, oem or gates. And yes def change the auto tensionser (oem), also change the water pump (gates or oem) and any seals you can while in there. The timing belts are the same the tensioner is slightly diff. You need a kit for a 1g 7bolt.

The link posted was for the gates kit. May want to check rockauto for pricing as well. I would stick with an OEM tensioner. If you have balance shafts still, you will want to change the balance shaft belt as well. Also water pump and all accessory belts should be changed out as well. Check the condition of the harmonic balancer. If you have never done a timing belt before, you will see why I recommend changing all others mentioned as well.

Here is the link for the timing procedure. Use this along with a manual.

I have been happy with Gates water pumps and accessory belts. Rockauto has all of those products/brands available. I am recommending rockauto because they have great customer service, pricing, and fast shipping if you want aftermarket replacement parts.

Assuming the seller is not pulling a fast one, that is the part number for a Gates kit. That particular kit, because it doesn't have an auto tensioner, is universal for the 2.0L 1G, pulleys and all.

I'd recommend getting the above JNZ kit or going through ExtremePSI. For the half-dozen DSM timing jobs I've done, I've purchased either from JNZ or ExtremePSI. Every one of those DSMs is still on the road today. It costs more but you get peace of mind, at least in the realm of quality parts.

I've never actually used an ebay timing belt kit, but my experience with ebay in general leads me to discouraging people from gambling on critical components.

On a related note, I do use the Napa generic water pumps for all the cars I work on. So far so good in that department.

I've used Gates timing belts, hydraulic tensioners, pulleys, accessory belts and water pumps on multiple 4G63 builds. Gates makes a high quality part that's comparable to OEM. You'll be fine using Gates parts.

Now, whether or not those are actually gates parts in the Ebay auction is another story. I would verify they are authentic Gates parts, not substitutes with the same part numbers. As mentioned, I'd check Rockauto for the best pricing. JNZ or ExtremePSI are good chioces as well.

It does not have everything. You also need an auto tensioner and possibly a water pump. Ive used the gates kit many times but I only use oem auto (hydraulic) tensioners. As stated above id trust rockauto or one of the usual vendors more.

If you checked the link to the 1g timing procedure, you would see a wonderful list of things you will need. maybe read what others have suggested and the pre-install in the guide and check for yourself. We have all been trying to help you, but your going to have to do a little thinking and reading on your own.

I didnt read that right. I thoight you meant the original kit The jnz kit is complete as far as parts are concerned.

+1 on Gates. I run the water pump on both my DSM and Jeep. I run the kevlar belt too. Other than OEM, I do not see any other company producing as high of a quality as Gates.
OEM pulleys are made by Koyo usually. If those pulleys are made by Koyo, I would not hesistate to run them. You'll see the name on the inner race. Other than the tensioner, which I highly recommend using OEM, everything can be sourced from other reputable aftermarket companies.

Yes the pulley and tensioners are there, but if you want a timing belt you have to add one! And therefore the price jumps up. And then add the water pump and woo there goes the price again. I'm all for using oem quality parts bro and finding the best deals. Doing a timing job right isn't cheap that's for sure.
