Guys, Im in the market for buying a 2g. Where do I look and what do I look for? Also it will have to be awd. Thanks in advance.

I had to fly to ohio to buy mine. I'm in MS. I'll keep a look out, but I agree with the 98. They made some changes in 97 that caused a few bugs that needed to be worked out.

..Like what?

Keep in mind that any 95-99 can be swapped over from bumpers to spoilers to interiors. If you find something you like don't stray away from it just because of the year.

I'd like to but buying a car site-unseen is to big of a risk. If anyone on here in the kc area is thinking of selling there 2g Manuel dsm, pm me. I prefer awd but will consider fwd if its clean, well even if its a awd its gotta be clean. And no projects. Its got to be ready to go. :dsm::talon:

I would stay away from modded dsms too...... not that mods are bad, but theres a huge risk with buying modded cars. Not to mention its FUN to mod your car! Built not bought right? Haha

Yea that too. I wouldn't mind minor stuff like exhaust but not something that's been hacked together.[DOUBLEPOST=1418187738][/DOUBLEPOST]I think also a big reason why not many dsm's are for sale is winter. Once spring comes around it always seams like people want to sell the. Not sure why :idontknow:

For 6 k you can get a clean no rust 98/99 GSX! Spend 4-5 on the car and the rest on getting it to you! If you only look in your area, you will be disappointed! I drove 5 hours one way for my baby! For the previous 2g I drove 8 hours one way.

Owner sounds like they are missing a few frenchfries from their happy meal, but you might be able to get a good deal, I did notice the head off in one picture... Not sure what that's about!

The newest Talon I bought I found on craigslist. I also had the car shipped to me, as it ended up being more cost effective than flying/driving it back. But if you do choose ot have a car shipped, I did have a friend of mine check the car over and handle the money situation, so to know that there was no funny business going on. Usually buying a car sight unseen can be a HUGE gamble, but these cars are getting harder to find in good shape. (esp. in the great white, salty, rust belt that is the midwest) This one ended up being completely worth the gamble.

It seems that it is getting tougher and tougher to find a decent 2G these days. Sites like this are a good place to start as long as you are either close to a large city or are willing to drive to test drive and pick up. I searched for a 2G for a couple of years before finally finding one somewhat close to me on Craigslist. Where ever you look, be sure to do your homework and thoroghly check the car over before committing. After all, these cars are close to 20 years old!
Good Luck!

Buetiful car by the way. I'm actually talking to a guy with a dsm. He's only 5 miles away from me. Hopefully can work out a deal :hellyeah:

That's great! :) Makes it easier, for sure! Best of luck with it!

And thanks, btw! I have yet to plate the car. Since It arrived in October, figured it wasn't worth the money to plate it when all it is going to do is sit until April. It's neat, as I am the third owner. The second owner only had it for less than a year. (he ended up buying an Evo shortly after buying the Talon). So up until 2014, the car had one owner. That's kinda rare-ish for these cars.

But enough on that, good luck with your search. They are out there! Just be patient.

[UTE="laser won't shark, post: 153 482531 , mem ber: 146345"]How far can you travel because there is quite a few within 300ish miles from you. Compared to that $6000 gst it seems like it might be a good option. I drove farther than that to get my talon. Sometimes it's worth it to get a fair deal.[/QUOTE]
Agreed, I would fly cross country, If I found the right car. Sometimes you just have to go after the "Unicorn", it won't always be right next door!

Too bad you want a 2G. I'm planning on selling my 92 Laser AWD. Last of the 6/4 combo. Could even drive it out there. About time for a road trip some place anyhow.
