Having issues with traction in first and second gear. Decided a cheap dual stage BC would be a quick solution. Essentially I want to run WG pressure and switch it to whatever the MBC is set at by closing the valve (air horn switch).
Every diagram I can find is more complex than this. Just wondering if there would be any problems running this setup.

Thank you for any advice.

Stock 96 2g ecu non eprom.
If could achieve this with a $35 BCS I would?
All i can find are more complex DIY options or aftermarket more expensive options.

t. If u can't buy an ecu with boost by gear, why wouldn't u just buy a cheap dual stage boost controller and do it right? There is also a DIY "profec" in the vfaq that works and allows 2 boost levels.

Thank you for your replys. I appreciate the advice. Switching the ground instead of the power is definitely a better option.

I don't really have the funds for a aftermarket setup that uses a manual switch and I honestly still dont see too much of a difference in that besides an extra 6 inches of tubing?
The air horn valves are rated at 180psi and only cost 10 bucks.

I saw the vfaqs article. That's kinda what I was basing this off of. It just seemed complex. I was trying to get away with a more basic option. Less solinoids. Less $$.
Also
I get enough traction at wastegate pressure.
Any more I start to spin around 3k in first all the way into second If I don't let off.
That's why it's kinda crucial to run off wastegate pressure for one stage. Then hit the switch and run at MBC setting.

Maybe I have more researching to do. You're probably right that somebody would have done this already if it worked

The way you have your DIY dual stage drawn out in your first diagram would work fine. the air horn switch will allow you to bypass the MBC until you hit the switch then swap over to what ever you have your MBC set at. The pictures are gone but if you read the description this is basically what you are trying to accomplish only running factory boost for low and MBC for high http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/how-to-make-a-switch-for-street-race-boost-or-high-low.220530/ also if you have a stock boost control solenoid or any other one (FPR for example) lying around you could use one of those as appose to buying an air horn switch.

I have a setup like the OP drew, and I've been running it for years. I just use a stock fpr/bcs/egr solenoid. For the switch, I put a micro switch in my shifter that automatically triggers anytime the shifter is in the 1/2 gate. I also put a three position switch on the side of my console so I can simply choose Low/dual/high. After I converted the car to AWD I made a Home Depot non adjustable boost controller to raise my low boost setting to 20psi.

Thank you for the replies!! I will be installing tomorrow. Hopefully I can find some kind of box to put it in to clean it up a bit.
