Hey guys, the name is Paul.
I'm new to DSM's
A little about myself--->
I'm 23, not new to Mitsu's. I've owned/driven several different models.
Among the cars I've owned my two Mirage's are the most memorable.
I just love these small cars, they're lots of fun. I'm also a moderator at Mirageforums.net so anyone that is on there, say hello! Aha.
Here's the story of how I got my GS-T and a bit of info on my current/previous cars.
I'm a nursing student. Just got into a nursing program which rocks, but I had to cough up 4k before a deadline. Well, I decided I had to part with my 5G Mirage sedan.
I had a lot of money and time into that car. I even have a 4g69 block & KIA DOHC head, modded by TRE evo 8 T-case, lots of forged parts that were going to go into it for an awesome street build. I planned to ventually convert it to AWD (I kept all that stuff btw)
So anywho, I sell my sedan and pay off school, but now I only have my coupe.
With a 4G64 DOHC conversion (about to hit 3k on the fresh rebuild) and some suspension/brake mods.
Plans were to boost 12lbs on a stock evo 10.5 turbo, but I'm holding off until school is over. I only need 1 headache for the time being. Besides it's got plenty of pep as is.
So anywho! A family friend had this Eclipse sitting, supposed to be a family members but my friend is tired of it and was even thinking of junking it. Well long story short, 300 dollars later I own a 97 2Gb GS-T.
The engine is self sounded healthy, it's burning a bit of oil but nothing major that would make me worry.
It's a total POS to say the least, but I was kind of excited to have a new platform to work on and I've always been a sucker for these cars. I think they look great.
Even came with some mods. Like a full 3" exhaust and HKS Hi-Power, Greddy piping to the stock intercooler, Injen intake and a (probably fake) Greddy BOV.
So I figured I could sell that stuff and break even if it turned out to be too much to deal with.
So far I have a leak from where my oil filter goes (already searched and think I found the issue) ordered the O-ring/coolant gasket. I think is what it was called? But yea. Got that. Also have a rather small leak from where my trans/block meet, but I'll deal with that after fixing the one by the filter which is MUCH more noticeable, specially if the car is running.
Going to do the basics this month.
Oil, filters, spark plugs, cables, and some gaskets and check all the hoses. I'm sure plenty are cracked (boost leak, oh noez)
next month I'll be focusing on the timing belt, water pump and the trans leak.
In case you're all cringing at the thought that I'm waiting until next month to do this, I don't drive the car and I'm not that loaded with cash ::
I have my coupe to DD.
I'm going to take my time fixing the GS-T. No rush. I want to get it running right, and do maintenance before I even consider engine mods.
Well I think I've rambled on enough, here are some pics
Lame carbon fiber hood and not an oem bumper. Also, these headlights are awful.
Don't laugh. Those tail lights. Haha.
HKS Hi-Power. Dat camber wear tho
Got lucky at the yard. Too bad I didn't see the VC had a small hole in one of the spark plug wells
Oh well. I'll toss it on as a temp while I freshen up my OEM one and hang this as wall art ::
After installing the hood
Scored these locally for 25 dollars
I just ordered some stock headlights/tailights this week, and I also have these sitting around. I like how they look on 2Gs.
So exterior wise all I need is a bumper and some fresh paint.
Finally here is the 4G63
So yea. The car is definitely rough, and I have a lot of work ahead of me. I'm looking forward to learning more about these cars, this forum and maybe even meeting some of you. I've made really good friends with people I wouldn't even have known if it wasn't for forums.
So yea. Sorry I wrote so much ::
Any advice, tips or just anything you'd like to say. I'd appreciate the feedback
