I'm looking to see if anybody has installed an Hx40 utilizing either a 16cm^2 stock housing or 18cm^2 stock housing, T3 frame. I'm going from my Hx35 to the Hx40 and want to continue using the benefits of my overly priced twin scroll manifold LOL. I can't seem to find any info of anybody running one. Everybody buys the tiny bolt on housing or the BEP open T3. Thanks in advance.

I second this. The more I read I think I will be going to a HX40 from my divided 35 setup. Since I've been looking to see what else is out there, alls I can come up with is some Borg Warner S362 that are divided T3 but then youre looking at over a grand. So lets here it from some 40 owners.

I remember beansblacktsi was running a divided hx40 set up with the t4 18cm^2. Had a thread on it. He was running in the low 10's.
Hmm this is interesting. I hope he decides to chime in on this, maybe with some pictures of clearances? I refuse to run a BEP housing. I'm utilizing this TS manifold one way or another haha. Paid way to much for it not to.

I'm getting mixed responses from people saying you can and can't machine the 12cm^2 exhaust housing from an HX35 to fit the 40.

I'm pretty sure you can. That's the direction if go if I ever go TS. PM black_gst on here. He machines turbine housings, he machined the housing on my car now which is a t3 pte .63ar housing, he can probably can answer some if your questions.
Here that thread I was talking about also

Dang!!! 10.1 on only 30psi in the 18cm housing? I wish he had some pictures of his set up. I'm gonna PM him.

Ive been running a 60mm hx40 in a twin scroll 18cm^2 housing for 3 years now and its been an amazing setup. It spools up good enough to stall up my stock converter to whatever boost I want with no nitrous. The car has gone 10.15 at 134mph on a 30psi 2 years ago. Since then I have been on about 45psi and the turbo loves it. I havent been back to the track since getting kicked out for no safety stuff but the car did make 504 uncorrected whp on a local mustang dyno at 44psi and conservative timing with a stock unstalled converter. Here are a couple pics of the setup and a video of the dyno run. Let me know if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them!

Thanks for chiming in. You can disregard my PM on the link forums. That is a t3 housing right? It's a little different than my setup. I see you don't have PS anymore and the whole hood exit thing. I'm hoping I can make it fit with the alternator and PS being up front on my 2G and still a rear exit exhaust. My car is also a 5 speed. Pretty impressive numbers for sure though. 10.1 is well passed my goals I've been after.

Its a divided t4. And ya making a rear exit exhaust will just depend on where your manifold places the turbo but shouldnt be to big of a problem to fit it.

Beans car is the inspiration for my love of twinscroll and why I plan to go twin-scroll HX40 on my 2.4L. Stalling on the stock converter in a few seconds with whatever boost he wants? Beans' car is the answer to a certain someone's challenge that twin-scroll "doesn't work".

Got my turbo in the mail today. I thought it was gonna be the 18cm housing, I lucked out as it came with the 16cm!!! I'm hoping to prove some TS power!!

It might get up on a stock convertor, but I've yet to see a twinscroll hx40 make any power. I think a 68hta would and did go that fast....

504WHP through an auto is making pretty good power, especially if it was a FWD dyno. The record for an 68HTA is 50x if I'm not mistaken by a local here, through a 5spd.

Beans, I love the car! Always wondered what it ran, and even cooler that it was on a stock converter as well! Take it back to the track!!

Went mid 10s 3 years ago on a HX40 at 27-28psi on a pretty basic combo with a stick car that had 2nd gear problems. Could have easily went high 9s if I had the knowledge and midset I do now. 2.3L 17cm^2 housing. That combo was my fastest spooling combo, even faster than the compound setup I would assume.

I think my video is proof enough that they can make good power! It made 504 on a local heart breaker mustang dyno uncorrected with a factory unlocked converter. I have no doubt in my mind it would/will go mid-high nines since I already went 10.1s on 30psi over 2 years ago. Ever since then I have been on 45psi(504hp) but havent made it back to a track because of my lack of safety equipment.

Thank you! The car will see the track this March in Texas at Tx2k15!

Anything else in a ~60mm inducer and open scroll makes 100whp more. I'd expect a hx40 in a bep t3 to walk in the door trapping 140, and work up from there.

I think there's a couple other t/s hx40's around and they are mid 130's cars too.

When you get one trapping mid 140's and it's still getting up on the stock convertor I'll be a believer.

Why are you bashing the dudes car a 10second car is hauling ass judging that you have no profile showing your speeds and times im gonna assume you havent went faster my car was never taken to the track nor would i have made 10 seconds but ive been in a high 9s 1gb talon and it was stupid fast

Alson bean said he has upped his boost to 45psi from 30 im gurenteeing he is now in the mid to high nines on a good launch for heaven sake its a damn auto car that would slam you in the seat

blAh blah blah
Whoa slow down a bit. I didn't bash his car at all. The original point of this post is twin scrol hx40s, and I was illustrating what I would expect out of a non twinscroll. Considering I trapped 137 on a 54mm turbo in a 3300lb car, and went 10.8s with a stock block in that car with a 5 speed and drive it everyday and have experimented with several twin scroll setups I think I know a thing or two about the subject at hand.

What are you talking about? I didn't see any bashing...
Bastard's signiture clearly states his times and MPH... I don't know the guy but I listen when he has something to say because it always makes so much more sense than 90% of the "I think.." or "I heard.." or "My buddy.." statements that fill this forum.

He speaks from good old fashioned "this is what I tried and this is where I got.." and from where I sit that is the proof in the pudding.
