I ordered a $100 downpipe from speeddaddy on eBay and was surprised by the quality of it. Other than having to rotate the flange that meets up to the catback, it fit perfect. The flanges were flat and the flex section seemed to be good quality. I guess its the luck of the draw with companies on eBay.

Almost all of the sub $100 downpipes on ebay eliminate the cat. It should fit a stock-cat back, but when you upgrade the exhaust you should go from back to front. FYI Apex'i downpipes are longer than stock and won't fit a stock cat-back because they are meant to bolt directly to Apex'i cat-backs (their cat-backs come with an adapter/reducer to bolt up the stock cat). You'll most likely get a CEL for the rear O2 sensor due to the cat being gone. These downpipes are made from the lowest grade of stainless steel and on the thin side......... but myself and others haven't had any problems after years of using them.

So ,was the exit side really 3"? i just tried installing a 3" Apexi downpipe and it was too big. It wasn't even 3" and no way in hell was it going to fit the tiny stock cat back.

i have been searching and reading for hours now and I can't seem to settle on a downpipe that just bolts in.

In my VW and Miata, downpipes just bolt in...is that so hard to make?
