i drive my car and the dash lights get dim and my stereo turns off and for some reason the turning signals don't work. then if i turn off the car it doesn't have enough charge to start back up. I have a brand new alternator so its pretty strange. also this happened to me just now and for some reason it started back up after i let it sit for a bit but then it slowly started dying again like before.

I bought a 2g and it kept dying on me. new battery and alt. Turned out to be where they tapped the boost gauge into the fuse box. Disconnected the gauge and suddenly my car held a charge haha

I would take the alternator back and try another one you could have got a bad alternator. Or check for loose wires

i had a ECU that caused battery drain. the car still ran o.k. but it would occasionally do odd things. the ECU still looks good on visual inspection also. i would think new caps and cleaning the terminals and inspecting some of the solder joints would fix it but i had a spare so i swapped it for now.

it had that exact issue of being fine for a few days to a week, then one morning the batter would be dead. i could drive the car a lot or a little, alternator checked good, replaced alternator, startor, starter relay, did fuel pump rewire, fixed car of any and all codes. issue still happened. swapped to a known good ECU, random battery drain resolved.

Thanks for the update on the fix, not enough people post their fix after asking a question that could be several things. And I worked at auto zone for over a year and I've seen a lot of alternators and starters come back defective. I always advise buying oem or known quality. And do you have the heat shield for the alt and exhaust manifold? It helps with longevity as heat and contaminants (oil, p/s fluid, antifreeze) will kill the alt.
