So after running a 2g 4g63 N/A for the last 6 months i have always wanted to do the conversion to a turbo. After a recent topic which told me that it would be easier than i originally though i have been scoring posts for parts to do the conversion. I would have preferred to just buy a GST or GSX being in the UK means that eclipse do not come up for sale very often, but yesterday a GS-t popped up on ebay so just had to buy it!!!!
Going to pick it up tomorrow and will give me a winter project to start on along with my other 2 cars (non DSM) which are all in the garage at the moment.
Not sure which route i will be going down but will want to push to around 300 bhp won't be a track car but do want to get some decent power without compromising the daily driving ability.
It will be stripped down and built from the ground up.
Fingers crossed for a 6 bolt but i doubt i will be that lucky :)
My first 2g still needs some tweaks to it but think i will continue to use that as my weekend car whilst the new one is being worked on, once that is complete put my 1st one in the garage to have some work done.
It does mean now though whenever i am looking for parts i am looking for 2 of everything!! This could get expensive!
I shall keep you all posted.
Just don't tell the wife … she will kill me!!

Thats awesome. But if you do want to convert the NA to turbo it will be easy for you, unlike us here in the US. I'm not sure what kind of harnesses/ecus and such the NA DOHC motor comes with in that market, but I cant imagine that you would have a hard time. You could probably get parts from an evo 1-3 to convert it. Or to upgrade your GST, for that matter. It makes it sooo much easier that those cars were available, as well as the turbo RVR or Galants to get parts from.

I doubt you will have a 6 bolt unless its swapped, as all 2gs are 7 bolt. From your goals i'd look into an evo 3 turbo, intake manifold, and injectors and your 300hp goal should be pretty easy to achieve.

EDIT:
I stand corrected on my previous comment. Apparently in other markets, early 2G cars had 1G engines and wiring. Interesting to learn. So perhaps there is a chance for a 6 bolt!
