I'm buying a gst and I really don't know what happened with the engine. Does this look like a fire happened?

Engine fire would do a lot more damage. Looks like junk wires or something chewed them.

How did they get the 1g motor mount to work? That's also the 1g intake and the fuse box is moved. Check over that wiring really good make sure everything works. Doesn't look like fire just corrosion.

Bottom of the hood doesn't show any fire damage, course it could have been raised when/if a fire happened. Fuel rail is off, #2 & #3 plug and the wire loom could have been caused by fire. The heat shield looks normal for the year. If it was a fire, it was put out pretty quick, not really much damage there.

If I had to guess, the wire on cylinder 3 grounded and was sparking all over the place right there in the middle of the valve cover, probably for a few minutes.

It looks more like a hack job that caused that. Look at it...LOOK AT IT! Lol 6bolt swap..with a 1g intake tube and 1g maf. Hacked upper intercooler pipe. Hacked fuse box. Look at all the loose wiring. 1g harness also?[DOUBLEPOST=1417054945][/DOUBLEPOST]Id stay FARRRR away as possible from this car. I wouldn't even consider buying it. Unless they were pretty much giving it away...

Anything is rebuildable. The question is...is it worth it. How much are they selling it for?

Id get a whole new matching fuse box and engine harness and go from there.

Is the engine shot? does it even crank?

I hope its at scrap price LOL

what are you looking to do with it? I think its far from a DD, but strip it down for a project sure!

Dang how long was that thing sittin?

I honestly have no idea how long it was on fire. I noticed the fire truck lights and came out, and there were 6 foot high flames at that point. Basically anything flammable was burned up. Even the brake fluid reservoir melted right off.

Dang man. My first ever ride in a dsm ended in a bad accident and thats how my buddies car looked. I was passenger and ended up with just a broken arm and whiplash. I don't think the op had any fire at all under the hood. That thing died of total neglect.

Looks like its been sitting around a while and some rodents have been under hood. Like others have said, anything is repairable. You will spend much time repairing everything to make things right.

P.S. people the poster is from Asia, so their early 2G cars are still 1g powered just like the ones in Europe.

The driver side motor mount doesn't even look bolted in. Its just hanging there. I had a small fire in my bay due to a fuel leak...and it kinda looked like this

I was planning on making it a DD, it's very cheap.. About 1/8 the price of how much 2gs are here. It's in pretty bad shape. :/[DOUBLEPOST=1417069334][/DOUBLEPOST]

Engine turns, compression tests suck 120 80 120 80[DOUBLEPOST=1417069390][/DOUBLEPOST]
Here's what an engine fire does:

That being said, it looks like rodent damage to me. The corrosion is probably from them peeing everywhere.
Damn..

This motor looks like it was sitting in a farm field or hood removed for awhile. Compression values like that, alone, is a rebuild(bent valves, rings, pistons, crank cams.) Was it in time when you rolled it over?Did the plugs look like they were damaged? One of the fuses actually look like it's melted(4th up from the bottom right passenger side fuse box). I wouldn't pay more than 200 300 for it, if i didn't have to pay for a tow.300 is more than generous i think. Not only are you going to have a rebuild, but also to figure out what a guy did to it.(wiring).Was it ever running with this swap?

I wouldnt give a single dime over scrap on that car which is maybe 300 that thing is a mess and would require thousands to make a reliable daily again and i dont even think i would give scrap LOL its bad man would need everything how did he install that engine harness to the body harness or did he just hack it up to make all them early 1g parts work
