Bought a used td04. There are cracks in the exhaust housing. I will be using an external wastegate if that makes any difference. Do you think it's usable or is it trashed?
Thanks

This is going on a motorcycle or something? The cracks aren't really a good thing, but with the small heat load you'll be putting into this it will last a long long time before they get bad enough to cause a problem.

Correct. A 1700cc V-twin. Thank you! Quite a relief. :)

You mean all the way through to where the flange attaches? Because there's a crack in the wastegate hole that lines up with it.

Well more cracked to the outside where you can see it. Cracks around the wg are normal. If I were you I would port that step out and polish smooth. You might even remove the crack or make it less noticeable. Can you show the wg side crack and how far it goes? See how my housing is cracking on the opposite side as yours thru the wg. I also had a small one starting on the other side but ported it out. Thankfully it wasn't to deep yet!
Also since your running ewg you will be taking the stock flapper out right. That means you can port out that whole area and make a better path for your ewg! That's unless your running the ewg off manifold LOL!

K. Thanks. I'll post pix tomorrow. Won't have an opportunity to take off the flapper for a better look until then.

Here's a shot of the flapper area.

Sweet! Thank you. I'll still plan to port and polish it. Hopefully it'll help with the flow a bit.

A friend of mine media blasted the turbine housing. I'll attach a couple of photos. Let me know what you think. I think with my low boost of 10psi it'll be fine. Thoughts?

[DOUBLEPOST=1416695159][/DOUBLEPOST]I still plan on porting and polishing it as well. Hopefully reduce the cracks a bit. But I think they're pretty deep.

As long as the cracks don't go all the way thru to the outside you should be just fine. You can def port out 2 of the cracks, the one looks pretty deep already unfortunatly. But taking the step out and matching your work to the gasket will get you alittle more flow. Should be fun bro! ;)

It did. Now I can proceed know I won't need to replace the housing.
