So long story short, I purchased a built trans that was suppose to be built by Shep. I had a transmission shop open it to make sure everything was good to go. It wasn't built no double synchronizers except for second gear. Everything else seems stock and the spider was rusted so the gears wouldn't move. Anyhow the guy is refusing my phone calls still insists it is built... not only did I get a stock transmission but I got one that isn't even operational. Oh yeah there was about a pound of grass and crap in it.

Now I need a transmission built. I am intending to put 600 HP to the wheels and I know my factory transmission won't take much in my 2g. I have been searching and searching and I know of jacks and tre etc. I was hoping to find the parts I needed and just have the local shop build it for me. I see Jacks has these H.D gears but won't sell them unless you purchase a build from them. I see there are Evo 3 gears and they are double schronized 2nd, 3rd and 4rth. Would that be sufficient to hold 600HP? What do you guys suggest what exactly do I need and where can I get it? Again, I would like to try and just aquire the parts and have it built locally and would do sending it to the shop and paying 2k for a build as a secondary option.

Try Tmz performance. He is a member on here and I think he would sell individual parts so you could have you're own shop do it.

I would stay away from Jacks, I purchased a "built" tranny from a third party who said it was built by Jacks. Upon contacting them to verify the work they told me they could not provide any info on it due to the fact I was not a customer of theirs even after I bought the tranny. I just sent it off the other day to Tim at TMZ to do a once over for me.

So you recommend staying away from jacks because they avoid being drug into used transmissions sales? Jacks is a great shop to deal with, as is tmz, but avoiding used transmission sales conflicts is no reason to not have a shop build a trans. For all jack knows the guy pulled the gear stacks out of the case, and replaced them with worn stock parts. Should he put his name on that?

I recommend staying away from them because they simply could not verify if a tranny had been at the shop and if any work had ever been performed. I had already purchased it and was going to send it off for a once over and all of that had been explained, I just wanted to know if it had ever been at the shop.

If it was in question prior to purchase then I guess I could understand. I was going to have them also do my transfer case, but do this "customer service" I will be going elsewhere.

Color it any way you want, but yes I recommend staying away from them.
