So I have a issue I noticed with my hks ssq ver.4 bov. Every time I go into boost weather its 5 psi or 11 psi and I let off the gas I get a flutter. From what I searched and read, people say that its normal when the hks is recirculated. I don't agree with that since the same bov on other cars such a subarus or nissans which are also recirculated open while blowing off smoothly with no flutter. I've watched this on youtube videos. Anyone dealing with the same issue here? I hooked up my hks to the same vacuum line that was from the manifold going to the stock bov. I do not have a aftermarket boost controller hooked up on that line as I am running the stock factory electric boost controller, as I plan to adjust boost control with ceddy mods.

the waste gate is stock. Its a evo3 16g internal wastegate. Its not a wastegate issue I believe. I don't get the quick flutter while accelerating. Its only when I let off the gas or change gears. Anyone know if you can buy lighter pressure springs for a hks? I'm pretty choked on this bov. I sent hksusa a email and got no reply back

It's most likely just not enough airflow going thru your system to make it more crisp. Mine does it sometimes on my 14b just depends how you let off the gas I guess LOL. I know when I was running 14psi it was more than now running 18-20psi.

Can't you adjust the amount of preload on the spring? I agree this should be able to be cured, I wonder if the diameter, length and flexibility of the vac hose makes a difference. If there's no way to adjust preload hopefully hks let's you know what spring you need.

The hks has a flutter as its the only bov to be pressure pulled to close as ours is pressure pushed to close and it does this on almost every car! A few folks i know use this bov and they all make the FLUTTER sound. Its quite normal on hks units as they are designed differently then normal bov and are really designed to be ran on higher boost cars but thats not to say it wont work on ours, there not designed for our low boost 12psi

yeah I know all about why it needs to be recirculated. Even being recirculated its loud. Still haven't got a response from hks. I have read other posts about people saying that the flutter is normal with a hks due to its two chamber design. The thing that I don't like is that it sounds bad to me. I hate flutter sound that is like surge. How Can everyone be 100% its not surging while making this sound? Since I have watched videos on youtube with other cars such as nissans and subarus running the vers.3 and 4, all being recirculated on stock boost level with nothing close to a sound of surge. This really makes me wonder about what's really going on with a majority of these bov's. As for the vacuum line being long, there's not much of a way to shorten it really any more than the 24" it is coming off the manifold. I'm debating cutting a 1/4 of a coil on the spring at a time to see if there's any improvement. Maybe its just better being a paper weight and I will get a tial.

make sure the bov is actually opening my greddy bov was fluttering and blew my turbo
