Whats up guys? Sold my subaru to step into the dsm world.. Problem is i cant find a dsm!! I have searched and searched, looked at a few cars, bought a dud, sold it, i am having no luck. I am looking for 2g gsx 5 speed. Everything i find is a rot box, terrible body, or just a headache. Im in ny so rust is a huge issue. If you can find a clean rust free running and driving car.. People want 13k-15k for them. Its sickening! Please someone help me out! Ive exhausted every possible place i could think to look. Craigslist, wantaddigest, dsm pages on facebook, and ofcourse on here... Nothing! I just want a clean running driving car without breaking the bank. No way will i shell out 10-15k for an eclipse! Thats damn near evo money! If anyone is interested in selling or know anybody please let me know. I have cash and am anxiously waiting to buy. Thanks in advance! Also what do you guys and gals think is a reasonable price to pay for a clean running and driving car. I have big plans once i get my hands one, but first i would like to go through and make sure everything is solid and maint. Is up to par. Thank you all who take the time to read and reply!

Definitely find something from the south or west. Even in NJ I'm wary of cars because of the salt on the roads, ocean spray, etc. It's a tough search to find one, but somewhere...someone will have one for sale. I'd think a clean unmolested 99 GSX could be had for around 5k. That's what I'd be looking for, a silver/white/black 99 GSX.

Yea im fine paying that all day! Id love white red or black..but at this point to find anything decent. I dont mind bolt ons but i would prefer to do internal work and tuning myself. Id go down south but its such a pain in the a$$. Nothing you find will be perfect, but it should drive ya home just fine. If the owner is quick to give pictures and respond that's a good sign.

Im not expecting perfection and i plan on going through the car before any building starts. You guys should see these cars ive went to look at. I wouldn't have given them $500. Sanded the body with 400 grit and sprayed right over it type of stuff.. No rust at all. I get there and the strut tower was repaired with what looks like paper machea (not sure if i spelt that right) and they want 5k another one said it needed a turbo and was rebuilt less than 5k ago..no compression. Needs a clutch when actually the transmission is shot. Its crazy! I just want a solid running driving clean paint matching no rot car.

It's never the cars fault, just the owners! Lot's lie or don't disclose stuff just to sell, which is wrong, and could be a law suit waiting to happen!
With today's tech, if the person can't skype or give live video, or non stop pictures, probably isn't worth the drive!
I got a walk around on my car before I ever seen it in person, I was sold before I got there.

Of course knowing your stuff helps, when you ask certain questions, like is there strut tower rust, and you get anything but a yes or no, be wherry.
If you ask when the last time the timing belt was changed and it takes them a minute to make up a date, be wherry.

I find talking over the phone you find out much much more then online communications.

Thanks. I know what to look for and i have seen nice cars, im just not paying that kind of money. I guess its better to be patient than to rush into something that I'll regret.

I live in jersey, I know what you mean.Around here its becoming more n more rare and pot of gold for that do got one. Seen several on craigslist. Best shot looking upstate around catskills and up. Also pa. Seen some nice mint ones but down fall no title so was only good for parts unless you got time, patients,luck to find last own and get them sign over

Im in the Catskills and let me tell you there is nothing around here what so ever! Just a bunch of rusted shells for sale. These cars break down and people want to much for them so they wont sell, then the car ends up sitting and rotting into the ground. Such a shame. Im about to give up! Im just not paying 10k for one of these cars. I would love one and they are nice cars but not at that price. Just not worth it to me for what i want. Yea subarus have better awd but they arent powerhouses like the 4g63. I actually gave up on my dsm search for now. Id love to have one but they have serious rust issues here in the northeast. I cant find anything decent for a reasonable price. I traded in/bought a new toolbox instead. Needed the space and at the end of the day it was a much better investment. One day..
