So, I have been checking out this forum for a while, but this is my first post (Total Newb!). I have had my 99 GST for about 4 months and am loving it! Only mod so far is a K&N FIPK kit (not really a mod, I know). So, here's my story from the last week. I was on my way to work when my car overheated right when I got to my job. Found out it was a freeze plug that went bad. I was quoted around $800-$1000 for the work needed (I am not mechanically inclined at all). I have a brother that is a mechanic, and he decided to take my car in and fix it for me, saving me a lot of money. Well, none the less, he just finished it up today and I got my car back. Now I was very concerned that I may have warped the head, but after a compression check I seem to have an okay head at the moment. No milky oil, no leaks at the moment, and no other signs that there might be an issue. My compression was the same in all cylinders (150). I know 170-180 is normal, so i am not quite sure why mine is a bit lower. Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks all.

Oh, and hey everyone. (forgot to say hi...) This forum has already been loads of help for me. Thanks everyone.

How many miles are on the engine? Your compression goes down over time. Usually really high milage engines have lower compression in all 4 cylinders.

I actually got it with pretty low mileage (for it being a 10 year old car). It's got about 85,000 miles on it.

Was it the freeze plug on the side facing the battery by any chance?

Good to see anyone taking pride in their car! Welcome
