Well, here i am on yet another forum posting yet another build thread for, yet another.. car :D I ventured all the way to another state to get this bad boy

Previous cars: 1990 BMW E30, 2.7L stroker motor and Holset Turbo, corsa exhaust, fully restored, custom lip kit and A LOT of other things.

Current: 2003 Honda civic, small lip kit, intake, exhaust, tint, rims, coilovers and subs blah blah blah, it is my daily driver and gas saver to university/school/work and back

Now! Let's get to the best part. I Purchased a 1997 Eagle Talon TSI on February 8, 2013 with a blown engine and needing some TLC.
2g DSMs, especially the Eclipse GSX, have been on my mind ever since I was a kid. Well.. i still am but you get the point. I really wanted to get an eclipse for a first car, but i ended up coming across the BMW and could not pass the deal up, and over time i invested A L O T of money and time into the bmw, but always wanted dsm.

Plans for this car are to take it slow and basically not cut corners. I want to get it running ASAP. But i also want to convert it to a eclipse gsx. YES, i know that talons are rare-"er" but like i said, i've always wanted a gsx and this deal was too good to pass up.

Enough of me talking.. here's pics of the car, the damage, and some junk yard goodies.

unfortunately, his avatar title says otherwise.

did you happen to unhook the driveshaft to the rear diff or no? if not...i pity you, and the car.

that poor engine, she got warm. someone neglected her.

LOL, yes it is all wheel drive.
NO i did NOT tow it like that. The driveshaft was indeed unhooked from the rear diff, when i went to pick up the car i brought along a jack and tools because this is the only car tow dolly we have. So don't panic, i know about these cars enough not to do something stupid like that.

And yes, the previous owner drained it of oil and ran it on the highway. No big deal, it will be all fixed up soon!

Thanks, but just FYI its going to be slow.. im uhh.. "young" and in school, and on top of that money is low (LOL no suprise here) because of the civic build/restoration.
And yes i do have two build journals on another forum. Ill put links below.


P.s. I did do all work at home in the garage..(except minor little things were taken to shop)

Alright folks, well I haven't been really active with this car since the last update..
Hmm.. i guess ill call this update the March-April update or something

Anyways, I took apart the new engine and inspected it. Holy SH!@#T is it clean! I am honestly surprised the cleanliness of this new engine. It looks as if the Head has definitely been replaced with a rebuilt one or a completely new one, so i am happy with that. The block is free from flaws as well, yet another plus.

April 12-13, 2013 was quite an adventure to garner all the parts necessary to "refresh" this divine, exquisite and exotic 4g63 Turbo engine. My father and I, like true sirs, traveled throughout multiple car part stores in order to acquire all of the paramount mechanisms needed to complete this engine refresh. I also spend a crap load of money :D
And we also got a grill, and brats.... mmmmmmmmm

^^I am sick right now so yes i have time on my hands to finally write all of this^^

What else can i tell you guys.. we put on a Lexus IS-F ISSForged exhaust a couple weeks ago, some coilovers, lip etc..

Dear future me, If you ever sell this DSM you are a complete idiot. This car is pretty darn shnazzy... Just Please swap a 5-spd into it.



TO DO LIST--
Get it running
Swap it to 5-spd
get max safe hp out of the 16g before upgrading to FP or Holset
Restore the body and get rid of ALL rust
Get some rims
I really want to do Eclipse conversion.. everyone will hate if i get rid of the talon look though. :ohdamn:

Today consisted of a long day going to Junkyards, even out of state, in order to find some 5-spd manual swap parts.. Was an interesting day.
Also messed around with extra rims we have laying around the house.

Well i have no clue what i was thinking with that spoiler and those rims that day (See previous post)...?
Anyways, those rims and spoiler are Looooonng gone and never to be seen again.
I have decided that i will be converting it from a talon to a 2gb gsx. Although talon is rare, i have put too much work into it to just "sell the talon to someone that appreciates it and get a gsx". Sorry guys :( If i get bored of the eclipse look i can always go back to talon look!
This car has come a long way as far as rust repair goes. The gas tank was holding on to the car with a custom ghetto style metal strip, and one or 2 bolts.. The rest was completely rusted out. The cross member wasn't in the best shape so a completely new, fresh metal, one was welded into place.
ALL(and i truly mean ALL) of the rust has been taken care of the professional way. Rocker panels were all cut out and new metal was fabricated and welded. The car is now probably much more structurally sound than OEM :)

Other than that, the car runs but the 16g smokes big time..
The restoration continues and the old engine is going to be pulled.
Car right now is almost a bare shell, i have parts scattered all throughout the house and garage and shed etc..
I also bought myself a new car which i love, a Nissan 350z. However, i will be selling it in the spring in order to fund my dsm project since i have such big plans for this car now.
Ordered an o2 dump tube, turbo rebuild kit..

Tial Bov
FP turbo manifold (ported)
AEM boost controller
AEM wideband
AEM oil pressure gauge

Well damn I have neglected this car A LOT.... Its almost been a year since I last touched that darn thing!
But have no fear, updates are here!
~Decided on staying with Talon look
~Car has ZERO rust
~16g Turbo
~External wastegate with atmospheric dump
~Brand new suspension
~Brand new brakes/rotors
~Engine was rebuilt with ARP headstuds
~right now in the process of doing retrofitted projector HIDs


I also decided i'm keeping my 350Z. I kind of like it.. Here is a picture :D

Did you sell the 350z? If you didnt I cant believe it. Would have sold honda way before the z. Anways looks like its coming along nicely. Keep up the good work

Bmws have always been my thing, do you have a build thread on the e30? is that a stock m20 engine? nvm i see 2.7 stroker, I have the 2.7 super eta with short lsd, chipped and exhaust, its a fun car even pretty stock. plan to put an m30 I have in it though and turbo
