So I haven't been able to drive my car in 2 weeks. 99' GST. The last time I drove it nothing was wrong and was doing great. I went to leave my house got on it in 1st gear and when I grabbed 2nd my tach went absolutely crazy and my car just started skipping, So bad that I had to turn around and get it back home. 1st thing I thought was a blew a intercooler pipe off but not the case.
I was told maybe the computer is going out cause of my tach going wild but I'm not sure. It has recently had a tune up (NGK everything) no new coils.
I can start the car no problems and it idles fine. Just around 2-3k rpms it will start skipping and under a load it skips real bad. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions! I had it looked at by a few different people and come to the conclusion of a bad turbo for more reasons than described. Got one on the way and let's hope for the best. As for the tach it's still unsolved

Rough, as for reving hahaha she won't Rev and if she does its the worst skipping ever. I have many codes. Most are multi cylinder misfire or misfire related.

Edit, I know my turbo is bad due to shaft play, smoking, and brand new fouled out plugs but after reading up on this power transistor it does sound Alot like my skipping problem especially with it effecting the tach. Thanks BMXfelon420

This is most likely not the turbo causing a misfire. My guess is it's spark related, doesn't mean anything is wrong with coils. If the cas was dying that could explain a few of the symptoms. Could also be injector related or a bad signal causing the misfire. Unless your turbo is smoked and dumping a ton of oil into the intake, I don't see how it can cause a misfire. Granted if it didn't spin it would cause an exhaust restriction but...

From what I was told the turbo being bad is allowing the oil to get into the intake and into the combustion chamber which is making the oil burn off thru my exhaust and fouling out my plugs. I put new plugs in it last night (gapped at .28) and now it runs worse. I'm really leaning toward the power transistor being bad cause the more I look into it the more it sounds like my problem. The car acts like it's not running on all cylinders but my compression is 150-160 across the board

Asexton6969, right now I can't post up the codes but i will as soon as I get a chance. There is no boost leak. Power transistor has a loose plug and no blockages.

Luv2rallye, I tested it and bad. Plus the loose connection I think I just found part of my problems. If I push down on the connector some it will start running good til I let off of it plus it fixed my tach! Thanks big time to u and bmxfelon420!

Motomattx, I'm not really sure what crank trigger is. I will have to research on it and my cam senor is fine but from the looks of it I think I found my 2 biggest issues. Power transistor and my turbo is bad

After playing with my power transistor I feel very strong that it's my skipping issue and THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE!
YOU ALL HELPED ME TREMENDOUSLY![DOUBLEPOST=1414951735][/DOUBLEPOST]Asexton6969, so I checked my codes and wow if it didn't change Alot. I went from having many codes (5-7) before I replaced plugs and messed around with the power transistor to having one code unrelated. The only code it's throwing right now is
P0120
tps, pedal sensor

Sounds like you found your problem then, for the P0120. Use a scan tool with the engine not running. Find your throttle position under data. Slowly press the pedal while watching the data. Should smoothly increase and decrease. If the data jumps around, replace the throttle position sensor. Also be advised that there is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) released from the manufacturer stating there is a known problem with the software in the ECU that will set this code. You would have to have your ECU flashed by a dealer or shop that can access the OEM site and flash.

So I replaced the power transistor and that helped my car Alot. It's drivable now but still has a skip to it. I haven't replaced the turbo yet is there anyway that could cause a skip? If I Rev the motor it does fine but driving is has a hesitation. Even with it throwing the p0120 code it could be the tps causing the skip?

If your tach goes crazy its (1) crank sensor, (2) power transistor, (3) wiring, or (4) ecu.[DOUBLEPOST=1415373715][/DOUBLEPOST]Your not far away. I can look at it and fix or tell you how to fix whatever it is if you can get it to spartanburg. I have my own private shop as well, if you have other things you need to get down.
Fyi you need to be a smoke train for the turbo to be dumping enough oil to make it misfire that bad. Been there.
