how can i tell, i just picked up a turbo, the man said it was a t28, but my friend said its a t25, its a strait bolt on 4 my gsx. i looked at pics and it looks just like a big t28 can any one help??

I think the only difference between the T25 and T28 is the diameter of the compressor inducers and exducers. Try measuring the inlet size to the turbo. A T28 is nothing more than a larger compressor wheel crammed into a bored out T25 compressor housing. On the outside they are indistinguishable at a quick inspection. I think I remember seeing a ID tag on my CHRA that says Garret T25, but don't quote me on that.

what specs am i looking 4 i have it opend up

Are there any markings on the CHRA? Look around on the forums and try to find specs on the T25 wheel measurements.

This is what a T25 looks like. I'm not sure if a T28 looks any different on the compressor wheel.

Second link is to Forced Performance's website for T28 turbos. You can see a difference in thickness of the suction port where its been bored out for the larger wheel.

I know I know this is old BUT...
I just bought a "t28" off a local dsmer but after reading this I checked it out and my hot side has 12 blades. Anyone have any input?? Really going to be upset if it isn't.

Oh yea I been reading this forum for what seems like forever now but just signed up. K sorry for posting on a old thread.

What's the compressor look like? I have a T28 right now I can take pictures of and post here to help.

This is an FP BigT28 that uses a different turbine wheel. Other T28s I've read have 10-blade turbine wheels. Also notice how thin the wall is on the compressor cover compared to the picture of the T25 a few posts above.

Thanks for the reply. So it looks like it on the turbo side but ny hot side has 12 blades. Kind of weird to me...thanks for the pics

No it's not weird! Only the fp bigt28 has a upgraded turbine wheel. The normal t28 still uses the t25 tubrine wheel, its just the compressor wheel and machining to the housing and cover that is different!
