Any ideas where I could pick up a inexpensive 420a?

Where are the best places to look?

Any possibility of sourcing one via local forums?

Never seen one there?

But I have looked, no ideas on who to ask local that deals in these?

Excuse me, let me be more clear.

A 420a engine.

Any ideas where I could pick up a 420a engine in the local Portland or greater Portland area?

Thanks though, need all the help I can muster! :)

oh crap haha my bad yeah. Are you looking for a used or rebuilt?

Probably used, but the one I have probably only has minor issues, just not motivated to do much about it.

Just one day it decided to run rough, not sure what went wrong?!? low on power.

But I could do a engine swap in a few hours tops, and i would be willing to do that.

The idea was to get it back on its wheels again and give it to a family member or get rid of it, as its just sitting around with no purpose otherwise...

Its a 97GS in OK condition, just has the crappy black paint, or rather defective clear coat issue.

I assume they are not worth much with a bunk engine in them?

Does a good chassis have any value?

Is it even worth dropping an engine in it?

Or maybe just letting those scrap guys get there paws on it and let the problem solve itself?

Its a great little car, has impressed me with its utility, towing capacity, storage capacity, so many strange things it does right, hard to believe its such a all around great car, sad to see it dead TBH

Have you done a compression test on it? Do that first before buying a used engine.

No I have not, but you know when you can feel it, its just not right, I cant imagine there is something irreparable, just seems easier to just throw a working PP at it.

I really know if I had a known working 420a, I could have that one out and a new one in and connected in 4 hrs tops.

Tearing that thing apart and dealing with all the parts and refinishing everything to decent standards , finding parts and dealing with parts guys would be tedious at best.

I would love to give a good excuse as to why I wouldn't, but I know it wont get done.
