Hello everyone! My name is Cisco, and I'm the Sales Manager here at Boostin Performance. I've had my 2G DSM for a couple of years now, and have slowly been working on this build and her transformation over the years. Now that we're getting closer to firing her up and cruising the streets with her, I figured now's a good time to post up the process! ;)

My 2G has come along way since I originally bought it roughly 3 years ago. She sat for a while during this time, as I wasn't certain what direction I wanted to take with this build. As time went on, and I changed my mind multiple times, I finally decided on exactly what I wanted - a 9 second street car on pump gas, and that's where it all the fun began! Keep in mind bought this car as a shell so for the first year of owning it I was just piecing it together. Of course working here at Boostin, my inspiration to have a fast car comes from Devin's Red Demon, Kristin's GTR and all the other fast cars I'm constantly around LOL!

Here are the mods I plan on using to achieve my goal:

  • Built 2.0L Short Block with Ross Pistons & Eagle Rods
  • Ported Head with Kelford High-Lift 276/272 Cams
  • Magnus V3 Intake Manifold w/ a 75mm Throttle Body & Boostin Performance 3" Upper Intercooler Pipe
  • JMF V-band Exhaust Manifold w/ a Precision 6466 Turbo, Boostin Performance 02 Housing, Boostin Performance Down Pipe & Boostin Performance 3.5" Aluminum Cat Back Exhaust System
  • FIC 2150cc Injectors w/ a Walbro 255 LPH Fuel Pump (I'm considering a double pumper if I switch to E85 or if I get bored with pump gas LOL)
  • AEM-EMS Series 1 93 octane tune by Devin
The list of mods can go on and on, so for now I'll list the major parts used for this build. As you can see, I didn't feel the need to complicate things as simplicity has worked great for us here at Boostin Performance. I do have some future drive trains mods in mind like a, Boostin Performance 300M T-case, Drive Shaft Shop Stage 5 Rear Axles & Aluminum Drive Shaft........ ;)

I would really like to thank the guys here at Boostin for busting a$$ on my car and making this happen for me!! I couldn't be happier with the way things are turning out. Stay tuned as I'll be sure to keep updating the thread as I go. Thanks for reading!

I dont think pump gas will get you to the goals your looking for. E85 or race gas will but not 93 octane. Its not worth the risk of running a lower octane gas IMO. A 9 second car is a solid 600 HP to the wheels. I would have also ran a better rod like an oliver or manley turbo tuff. Those eagles are the bottom of the barrel..

It's just fine on the eagles and 6466. The 93 will keep the torque low because the timing will be low to keep it out of det.
It will make power with rpm, and that 6466 will drive that as well. Trying to make that power on that combination is way easier on parts than trying to make that's power on a small turbo E85 combo. Remember, smokey yunick was a liar, horsepower wins races, torque just breaks Dsm parts.

That's awesome, how high are you trying to Rev? I've always loved fast pump gas cars. Don't get me wrong, e85 is some amazing power making miracle juice. But I've always liked the idea of not having to plan which gas station I have to go to to fill up.

Too bad it's not an auto...

yea, 9 second MT? On PUMP?? Hey, im sure you guys have forgot more than i will ever know about dsms but this combo sounds like it'll have to come down to insane levels of weight reduction to hit 9s.

I've seen Evo guys run 9s on 93 Octane...why wouldn't a 2g be able to do it?

I think it's a great setup and you guys will make it happen. Hurry up and prove all these people wrong!

Good luck on the build! And keep it a stick. Sure, it's harder to drive, but it does make you a better driver. And you get more satisfaction of accomplishing some fast passes with a manual trans! But you'll have a ton of crap passes, too. ;)

Thank you for the kind words every one. Happy Monday! :)

I've got a strong and knowledgeable team behind me, I'm sure if my goal was un-realistic they would have smacked some sense into me. ;)

Also Just as BastardDSM stated, we'll make power with boost not timing, and If it comes down to needing a higher octane fuel to make more power so be it.

Exactly, I'd like to enjoy driving the car and not have to worry about E85 searching. I'm not sure what I'll be revving to, I would assume 8-8.5.

Oh there will be some weight reduction, Enough to make a difference as I refuse to have a chopped up "street car". I'd rather spend the money on light weight parts.

Thank you, My car will stay a manual as long as I own it.. Or if I decide I want an 8 second car. :)

*** UPDATE ***

Last night we got the car on to the dyno and the car is making monstrous power for only 93 Octane, Devin was forced to stop tuning due to the car running out of fuel at 561awhp. We'll be throwing in a Walbro 450 and going back at it soon!! :) I'll try and get a video next time.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

Great numbers! I was gonna suggest to go bigger on fuel pump. I ran out of fuel around 500whp mustang dyno on 255lb walbro.
