I just got a gift card to best buy and want to get some new front speakers. I've never really done anything with car audio and am very confused after searching on here for info. I now know I need 6 1/2 sized speakers, I have the infinity system. I found some conflicting things on the Ohms, do I need to get 2 or 4? Also everythings set up stock except I have a different cd player. Can I get these

Or

Also do they just plug in or will I need an adapter?

I would get the polks unless you want subs(bass) in the doors. No they will not be plug in play. Youll have to wire them up. Its pretty simple and easy to do. If you do decide to use the subs its going to be a lil more involved.

Id go with the kicker ones. I have pioneer speakers all around and love them. And to install the speakers all you have to do is take the original speaker mount and drill new holes for the new speaker. Might need to dremel some plastic off the mount to fit, but i had the non infinity system. To wire them its just 2 wires. you can twist and tape them or for a cleaner install buy these.

polk and Rockford is what ive always used. look it up polk is one of the best out there. right now they are rated number one speaker in car audio

I agree about bestbuy, prices are insane compared to ebay. I picked up a pair of 6 1/2 and a pair of 6x9s from pioneer for about 100 bucks on ebay.

Polk DB series speakers have always been my first choice.. abit pricey, but sound amazing.
Wiring isn't bad, its just cutting the old speaker out and crimping on new connection ends.

working for the aforementioned company as an autotech installer, i would say get the kickers, but not that series. get the QS series 6.5 components. if not them, the polk audio will be a nice mid range pushing set.

you will need to run the tweater wire back throught the door boot to the factory dash location, or you can mount them higher up in the door. they usually come with a few pieces of mounting hardware.

as far as impedance, if they are running just off the deck, 2 or 4 ohms wont make a huge difference. if they were being amplified with over 40 watts of power, then id worry.

the higher the impedance, the quicker the speaker will react, but will also take more power to push them.[DOUBLEPOST=1414387908][/DOUBLEPOST]

and not to be a jerk, but twisting and taping is the laziest thing ive ever seen with speakers. at least 75% of the speaker issues i resolve are from things like that. crimp caps, solder and tape or vehicle specific speaker harnesses like you posted are the best options.

if you use the specific harnesses then a little dielectric grease will help combat against any corrosion.
