Some more 14b runs will be made soon!!! With quite a bit more power, and less weight!!

Yeah...Hoping for some quick passes!

Couple more days...still trying to shave a little more weight!

Had a blast this weekend. Thanks Chris for the Video.

So I hit a new PB on Saturday. Went back to back [email protected]. First pass was a 129.5 mph. So Close to that 130 mph mark. I got kind of a crap video of one of the 10.65 passes. Wasn't able to improve it as it seemed the car kept slowing down little by little on the MPH side of things. Looked over my logs last night and comparing my 129 run to the previous 128 run I noticed a bunch of stuff. The biggest thing I noticed was the on This Saturdays quickest pass it was holding a little less boost than early in the year. Its really hard to compare everything else because some of my readings where way different each day. Having coolant temps, IATs, Boost, AFRs, and voltages all being different in ways I wasn't able to break it all down yet.

The day it self was hot Sunday and only got in two passes. My qualifying pass and first round elim. Kind of an accidental loss. I ended up lining up with Brandon (1sloevo) knowing he was gonna pack up and go home after that run. I dial in a 10.75 time and figure I would squeeze through. I make the pass and somehow I managed to hit 10.75 exact as my dial in. Here's where bracket racing sucks LOL. Brandon dials in an 11.99 and runs a 12.01. He gets the win on a .3 kill on the reaction time. My .5 to his .3. We both load up. It was all good anyways since there was over 30 cars in that field. It was hot and I got to the point I didn't wanna beat on the car anymore. Stuck around and spectated.

Thanks as well Chris! Great fun racing with good people. And trying to learn as much as I can. My best time was a 12.01 @ 110. A lot more left...missed 4th gear due to some clutch issues, and the 60' was only a 1.83. Happy to pick up just over half a second knowing there is quite a bit left in it.

So I have decided to join this challenge and give it my all. It is safe to say I am going to build the most ridiculous 14b powered car ever. I am going to be installing a diesel engine in my rat rod, so all of the hot rod 4g63 parts will be going in the talon.

I am taking an even more serious effort to lose weight. The car weighed 2580 this year. I am looking to drop the car to under 2350 for 2015. All while spending no more money on the chassis. I think at some point I may start to invest in lexan as i can get it fairly cheap locally.

Here are the major changes for 2015-
Remove the intercooler and install my 3" hotpipe
Remove the 1600cc injectors and install my 1150cc primaries and 6 1600cc secondaries(seriously considering going to methanol)
Install my mechanical fuel pump
Remove the stock radiator and go to a small aluminum radiator with AN lines
Finally remove the 2g exhaust manifold and install a 10cm T3 housing with a T3 manifold and my 38mm external wastegate(I already have all these parts)
Remove the 3" exhaust and go to a 2" exhaust out of the hood(the t3 housing's outlet is only 2" and I anticipate an exhaust less than 18" long)
Move to speed density from a blow through GM maf
Relocate my alternator
Install my fluidampr crank pulley

And if all else fails install my mountain motor from the truck in this thing(custom Arias pistons with Pauter rods with GSC S3 cams)

I hope all of this will net me some mid 12's at altitude. I am basically looking to pick up nearly a second next year with the weight and hopefully find some power. I really think going t3 and going to the hotpipe will be the key in all of this.

Can't wait to see the results!!!

I do find it very hard to pull the 14b off my car knowing how well it does with so many problems. Already thinking about getting a second 14b rebuilt in case mine shits the bed.

What is the lightest you have been able to get either chassis down to Shane? I am still trying not to spend anything on the chassis unless I have to.

My old car weighed 2430 with me in it. On the scales yesterday my new car with the 6 point chromoly roll bar and sunroof weighed....2430 with me in it. She'll be under 2400 once I get a few more things done such as the roof skin and side lexan.

Anymore updates from anyone? I'm finally getting settled in on the east coast and hoping to start back to work on mine soon to get her ready for some spring racing.

Nothing to major from me yet as far as wrenching on the car. I did get a 2g head and evo3 intake done by Curt Brown. It should arriving to me any day now. Also got a gear set at TMZ getting ready to get faceplated.

Once the head gets here I'll be hitting the dyno to find the best cam head combo. Then hopefully I can hit the track again.

I pulled my 14b over a few years ago. Miss the little guy though. But dont miss the falling on its face after 6k though

Looking forward to see the numbers. I'm ready to fire my car after the 2G head/EVO intake swap (DIY ported, EVO 8 valves/springs/rockers/lifters), decided to ditch the HTA68 and go right to the HTA76, should be fun. I'm saving the 14b and HTA68 for a lighter setup (hopefully soon!)

I have given up on the talon. After I spent all fall removing more weight. It is not officially my car, but I have no desire to keep spending money and time on it. I have given the car ten years. I have decided to pursue this endeavor in a FWD chassis. I am making the 600 mile journey in two weeks to pick the new car up. I am doing this for a little while until I get bored. Ultimately I am going to finish what I started with my Colt and get a car hurling itself down a half mile or mile pavement event. I just want to go stupid fast. But, will give the 14b a little more attention. Not sure if 11's are possible at altitude but, that is kinda of an outside goal. I intend on running very far into the 12's with this car on theb14b.

As much as I have read it, I really think youll like that 2G combo. Im looking forward to see what kind of numbers I can lay down to. I really need a little bit higher powerband. One reason im gonna play on the dyno with cams and the head.

I got on the dyno but something is causing my car to break-up at about 6200 rpms. It must be something in the wiring I pulled, we tried coilpack, wires, plugs, cas, ptu, ecu, and couldn't get it to rev. It did see 280 hp at one point, simple evo timing map, rich afr's, and on wastegate 18 psi spiking to 22 for a second. If it ever gets above single digits now that my busy work season is over I'm going to sit down with the car and figure it out. I need to finish some clean-up and weight work on the car as well.
