So as you guys have known, I own a 98 Spyder GS that isn't an ordinary N/A 2g. Mine is running 23psi on the stock bottom end from a 16g and makes somewhere around the 360ish mark.

Recently, I fried my transmission. I decided to rebuild it to see if it was just the fact that it had 171,000 miles on it that it failed. Well, 6000 miles later, it failed again. So I decided to ditch the junk transmission in it.

Out with the F4A23 and in with the F4A33. The difference in these two transmissions are huge, the 33 has 33% more main clutch surface than the 23 does. Not only that, but I have a Kiggly 5 Plate main clutch which means it has a whopping 94% more clutch surface than the stock transmission. I have spent $915 on this swap and build which isn't terrible.

Includes:
F4A33 Auto Transmission
Turbo Axles
Turbo Torque Converter
Roadsurge Shift Box
Kiggly 5 Plate Main Clutch
IPT End Clutch
Translab Shift Kit TL-175HP
Redline Synthetic ATF
Lubeguard Black Friction Modifier
New Transmission Filter

Any thoughts on this setup? Thinking about going with the blue wire mod as well but the shift box should do the same thing.

What do you know about this swap ? Apparently you have ALOT of knowledge about it !! Share some info if you don't mind =D buddy

I agree, the roadsurge box negates the need for any wire mod.
The kiggly clutches, IPT clutches, IPT shiftkit(or translab), new seals and a roadsurge are all that im doing to my awd AT. Going to see how it'll hold up to 600 crank. With the 2 clutch kits you should have a tranny that can take a pounding and then some with no problems at all.
I might add getting a large tranny cooler. As big as you can fit in there. Thats the only thing i see missing on your list

Its a direct swap as far as i can tell, minus axles of course[DOUBLEPOST=1412469864][/DOUBLEPOST]

I have an external cooler already, although not that big, just a 4-pass. I may look for a bigger one soon.

There was no modifications needed for the motor mounts ? The torque converters and flywheels are interchangeable as well ? And I thought I read somewhere the tcu from the gst needs to installed and rewired

its the same case so the mounts shouldn't matter. not sure about the TCU but like i said i have a roadsurge box so no tcu needed if it doesn't work. and i said i have a turbo torque converter aswell[DOUBLEPOST=1412563157][/DOUBLEPOST]

Just did a little more research, all that's need for the swap is the tranny, converter, and axles. tcu should work and everything else should work. if not i'll make it work.

23psi? might want to post a dyno sheet on that please :|
