Hi all. I'm finally getting my first 2G after years of wanting one. I've loved this car ever since my parents bought my sister one when she turned 16 (I on the other hand had to buy a 1985 chevy s10). Now after 11 long years its finally happening. Its a red 1999 Mitsu Eclipse automatic with 201000 miles. That part doesn't matter to me but I've ordered the following parts to do as soon as it gets in my driveway:
Timing belt, water pump, valve cover gasket, oil pump, upper and lower radiator hoses, 10 qts of trans fluid, trans filter, oil filter, synthetic oil, spark plugs, plug wires, and oxygen sensors. That should get me started whether or not it needs all of it. Now my question is, is there anything else that I should grab on my way home while I will have it tore down? Any part that is usually problematic for these cars that I should go ahead and replace? I just sold my Montero sport to finance getting this car serviced up. Great to be here!

You didn't specify, gs/rs 420a (non turbo) or gst/ gsx 4g63 ( turbo)? They are 100% completely different under the hood. Either way you're off to a good start, but be prepared if you have a 4g63 for your parts list. It will never end as long as you own it. Welcome to the madhouse:sneaky:

O my bad! Its just a gs 420a. Also turns out the owner had the motor rebuilt a while back but they couldn't tell me how long (go figure) so I'm still getting the parts. That being said, I'm not supposed tho use Dex/merc trans fluid right? Can I use castrol multi import?

As far as I know you use ATF4 for them... It's a Chrysler transmission, not a Mitsu...

I use amsoil in my tranny after tons of research. Check the threads here for the debate and you'll see why. Is your car an anniversary edition?

No its not an anniversary. I think I'll run some cheap +4 through it for a little bit then flush it again to some higher quality stuff. I have no idea the last time it was changed so better safe than sorry.
