Just a quick little update. Sorry for the blurriness once again, I get caught up in the moment..

That cant be good!!

Cylinder walls show some typical wear but nothing compared to the other motor. I decided to just run with this stock bottom end and some arp studs as nothing appeared to be in bad shape. Sadly that's it for now, I'm waiting on a big parts order!

For those of you who have also never done this before, timing a 4g63 in the car is NOT fun...Oh well at least its over with. I also installed arp head studs, just forgot to take a pic. As you can see from the last pic, the last of the a/c system has been removed and the power steering cooler has been deleted/ lines looped. Its amazing how much less cluttered it is now.

That's it for now. Im still having trouble with getting ic piping that fits. I even had a buddy fab me up this lower ic pipe with a tighter 90 degree bend but im still running into problems. Hopefully I can get it figured out soon, I haven't driven this thing in forever!

Had to make the cuts even bigger. Yes, my car is dirty :p

Look what finally came back from paint! (I don't have access to a booth gun or compressor anymore so I couldn't do it myself)

I couldn't be happier with the vrsf kit. For the price, nothing even comes close. The welds are good, the fitment is excellent (compared to the cxracing/godspeed kit which fell flat on its face when trying to clear my dump tube and match up to the turbo) and I highly doubt I could've pieced together a fmic kit for cheaper. If you are in the market for a fmic, I highly recommend it.

Long time no update.. Well I found a killer deal on a set of enkei evo 8's so I sold the fd wheels, and bought these with the money. Don't mind the dust, its been a long time since the car has left the garage.
image_zps8d9932c4.jpg

Torque solution base shifter bushings installed. Super crisp shift now! I cant wait to see how it drives. Don't mind the surface rust, I've got quite a few things im going to por15 later on.

Im giving this megan downpipe a try. The weld quality and finish looks very nice but it put up a bit of a fight fitting up to my punishment o2 housing. Over all though im pretty satisfied for the price.

I was able to find an adapter to fit the aem boost signal in the pcv port on the intake manifold. Previously someone had put a plug in that wasn't even the right thread pattern :banghead:. Imo this is much better than a T fitting and one less vac line to worry about!
image_zps5f0f43e7.jpg

image_zps206cecf4.jpg

Tapped pin 4 to the ecu so I can simulate narrow band with link.

First startup! As you can see it is all over the place but this is my first time timing a motor, and tuning with link and s/d (or tuning in general). Ive got tons of stuff to work through but firing it up for the first time was a huge motivator. I buddy of mine gave me a new base map that I am eager to try.
image_zps2b43f872.jpg

The crazy spikes in the datalog are me giving it gas to keep the car idling. Like I said, it needs some work LOL.
image_zpsd2301e4c.jpg

Sadly, all that has to wait though. I noticed an oil drip coming from my oil pressure sending unit and I figured I just didn't use enough Teflon tape. Upon closer inspection I found this nasty crack . So it looks like im in the market for a new 90' ofh. More to come soon!

I undercoated where I ground back to metal. I may go back and coat the entire wheel wells but I wanted to make sure I had enough.

The car was running well, however my wideband was reading 16-17 at idle and based on my exhaust color and smell it was running extremely rich. It didn't take me long to find a few massive exhaust leaks.

image_zps561e2dd9.jpg

So of goes the turbo....
image_zps792f0d8e.jpg

This was the culprit: The internal wg flapper had simply been cut off, leaving the actuator arm free to become a massive leak. (If I had done my research I would have known this needed to be plug welded.):ohdamn:
image_zpsb67c76d2.jpg

image_zps159b7fa7.jpg

If there's one good thing about running stupid rich, it tells you where all of your exhaust leaks are...

It was way easier than I expected to fix. There really is no excuse for leaving out a stud because the hole is stripped

Long time, no update. My new phone doesn't play well with photobucket, but anyway, heres where im at.

The car is back together, which means its time to start tuning!

image_zpsney7m03m.jpg

I think im running a little rich :p
image_zpsfvvfii2k.jpg

New plugs of course.
image_zpszzvrihyd.jpg

When it comes to tuning, im clueless. Especially when you throw in speed density. Given this, i enlisted help from a more experienced dsm'er to play around with dsmlink. Im not sure if he's on here, but if he is thanks again Jeff. Needless to say the talon has never run or driven this well under idle and light throttle conditions. even when it was stock.
image_zpsxlgyqlhq.jpg

I took the car on its maiden voyage around the block a few times and everything went great! My neighbors weren't so happy about the open down pipe however :sneaky:.
image_zpsiwpfcvl1.jpg

As of now, I have to tidy up a few things in the engine bay, put the bumper on, finish the interior and get an exhaust and then I can start driving it! More to come soon.

Definitely following this thread, I really like what you're doing with the car. Good luck with the rest of the build.
