thats crazy 325k miles and running 11s almost just proves that with maintenance you can run along time

Well my motor would still be running if it wouldn't have snapped LOL. It was even a new oem belt and components and still shredded up. I don't know but I'm deleting them from now on! If you ask me if your going to be racing the car a lot, ditch the balance shafts!

my race motor doesn't have a bal shaft LOL but the daily does I wonder about deeting it but it is a daily after all...

Well if "or when" it snaps it can get tangled in there, and cause who knows what kinda damage,:hmm:... I guess if you keep the balance shafts during a timing belt change, [or inspection] really clean every part, making sure that all balance shaft components are within spec, also inspecting that it is installed correctly afterwards... otherwise don't waste your time doing the job halfway right, and delete them.

Mine blew at the track after about 6-7 12.4-12.5 passes at 19.5-20psi boost. For me it shredded and got wedged in the balance shaft bearing. That somehow pushed the shaft in I guess and somehow somthing hit the number 4 rod, I believe the actual balance shaft and then all hell broke those after that LOL. It shattered the piston ripped thru the block and even cut the main girdle in half! Wasn't pretty at all :(. This was my dd/ww car and had alittle over 240k. All maintinence and mods where done and up to date to run what I was running. The car was running amazing and getting faster and faster till that happen! Found this piece about 200' from the car LOL! Sucked big time

Had the same issue, only I did not blow the motor the previous owner did, so I got my 1g with a few light mods on it for real cheep, the old blown motor is still in my garage to this day, I use it for mock up purposes, it isn't really a 4g63t ether its a kdm or jdm hyundai 6 bolt variant, as you can imagine the turbo was toast, I still have the exhaust wheel that I recall extracting out of the down pipe those 6 years ago... it's still in my room somewhere LOL.

Lol crazy! My turbo and head are actually still good. Lucky for me when mine blew it shut down immediately and dumped all its oil out LOL. Even the head gasket still looked perfect :)

To answer 911 yes you can remove bs with motor in the car, it's just much harder. Probably way less of a headache with the motor out! Look in the tech section, I believe there's a write up on both ways.

It's definitely easier to do it with the motor out of the car, but some dsmers have gotten away with doing it with the motor in the car, only issue is sometimes the crank pulley bolt is stubborn and gets in the way, it lead dsmers to fabricate up a tool [in place as a substitute, for the tool seen in the fsm] I plan on making one for my own uses, see the vfaq linkhttp://www.vfaq.com/mods/timingbelt-1G-tool.html.
I don't really like the other "free ways" some guys try to break it loose... but thats just me.

Impact!! ;) Do the delete when you do your next timing Job. Since it all has to come apart, makes more sense. Also change out all the seals you can. And remember you will need a new front case and ofh gasket, Along with the bsek.
