I have power seats in my 97 Tsi. The leather is destroyed and my awesome sunroof went swimming pool status and now it smells like macaroni and cheese, mold, and death in my car. Plus they're damp. Ew. Friend of mine has mint non power leather, the adjuster wheels and handles are bent and unusable. Before attempting any kinda pennsyltucky self tapping screw madness can I just switch the seat pads? Or am I going to drink some ipa's and bust my snap on drill out for some down home fun?

Well, fellow pennsyltuckian, I just looked at the differences between my power and manual seats and at first I thought they wouldn't swap, since the plastic on the power is higher, but then I realized your attempting to switch from a manual, so you should be OK, just may have to trim a little extra. Just unzip and carefully unpeel the cushion from each half. The stitching is usually very brittle, and tears easily when stretching it back on. I would sew some reinforcing polyester thread through the usual rip spots (where ur ass sits, and left shoulder) just in case. Also, FYI, if the carpets trashed you can retro fit a 3g carpet (got a good one for $7 at the junkyard) with a few slices.

If you can do the direct padding and foam swap, do it other wise try ebay or Craigslist. heck even a junkyard, you never know

unfortunately sir, this is a catastrophe. my current situation is a seat bottom on the driver side. thats all that is installed in the car at the moment. the course of terribly played actions leading there was this;
1) power seat bottom pads are bigger then manual. therefore the tracks aren't interchangeable.
2) the bottom also has a bar that runs north/south to adjust the height of the bottom. this cannot be detached without irreversible seat damage.
3) it still smells like mac and cheese and death with a hint of strawberry lemonade vent freshener
4) rust makes seat bottoms not come off and bolts break in them.
5) someone selling gray leather seats that aren't rotten or torn? Lancaster pa local please.

In short, i hate sunroofs.

Well, Mr. Weather, this is good to know for future reference. If you're willing to get down and dirty I would suggest ingesting at least six weyerbacher blithering idiots, finding 3g seats and retrofitting them to your "whip". Also, as I'm sure you already know both Sebring and Avenger power seats are direct fit replacements. I am currently about to embark on an exposition to the local junkyardlands in an attempt to bag myself such a prize, in either gray or black cow skin. The pickins are much more plentiful compared to the availability of dsms. I assume you repaired your Japanese zen garden trickle waterfall? I had the same problem when I adopted my eclipse. The interior was completely trashed and slowly had to be replaced. No Mac n cheese though; more akin to a bloated corpse floating in the Delaware river in mid august. Good luck to you sir in all your endeavors.

You can just switch the pads... I put motorized seats in my Spyder. The cloth seat pad that it all came with were less than desirable. My leather seats are near perfect. Just unbolt and unplug your old pads and seat belt clip and you're good to go![DOUBLEPOST=1413902235][/DOUBLEPOST]Ok I just read you want to put non power cushions on a power seats. Exactly what I did. Really only two issues. #1 You have to relocate the joystick/controller thing. I put mine in my center console (You can see in my profile picture). #2 You now have a section of the bottom right of the seat that isn't covered and doesn't look the best. I'm having a friend try to 3D print me a cover for it. I actually took pictures and planned to do a write up about it. But at the time I wasn't allowed to post write ups. Would anyone like me to do that?
