Well i just aquired a 92 eagle talon tsi awd and all of a sudden when im driving it will lose power. like if i floor the pedal it will pretty much stay at idle or jump up and down from 750 to 1500 rpms, and i can be driving like 40mph and it just hit a brick wall and lose all power, has any one had this happen to them or have any suggestions on what to test? it is a built motor with ross forged pistons and acl bearings and some other nice stuff on a 16g turbo.. i have a video of the problem on the freeway, thanks in advance for any help, and yes i have searched before i posted... and also the MAF is a corvette maf with the conversion box if that helps.. and dont mind the maxed out temp gauge, it dosnt work so i have the water temp and oil pressure pods on the side. t does have and exaust leak at the turbo downpipe

What is that blue thing in the middle of cluster? Have you checked anything at all? No cel lights at all? Did you mess with anything before this started? I would look at plugs and replace if needed and maybe wires. Replace fuel filter? Do a blt. Check timing. Lots of little things need to be checked and could be causing the problem.

mine did something similar when i got my maf wet. i just had to dry out the harnass and it went away.

Seems to be a weird more of an electrical issue than mechanical, I would make sure you have good Ignition Coils/Wires/Plugs/TPS also are you able to get any reliable Airto Fuel ratio gauges while this is happening or any smoke? It seems to idle OK too so nothing w/ IAC valve. Corvette MAF is cool tho, similar to a 3 bar GM MAF?

ok plugs are new ngks, wires are new ngks and the coils are new tps is testing fine, this problem just started, and my bad its not a corvette maf it is a 3 bar gm maf with converter box, so far ive checked the maf, i hooked up the original 1g and i also tried a 2g with no difference, seems to do this more when making right turns

Do you have any way to datalog? Seems like you are loosing maf signal, or an incorrect maf signal.

I'd wonder if you dont have a loose wire rubbing anywhere. Also you seem to have a CEL in the video, do you know why?
If i did have a loose wire i dont know which one it would be or where to start. . And cell is on because egr delete

I wish i could datalog. Not buying dsmlink till its running correct. And how would it be getting incorect signal? If maf stops working dosnt the car just run like crap, but not limit you from driving it?

I would try cleaning the maf. Just make sure you use maf cleaner only not carb or brake clean. Also how much boost you running and what size injectors ? Also check your cam angle sensor

Make sure the MAF cleaner you are using is compatable with your MAF. The 2g stock MAF cannot be cleaned with MAF cleaner.

I will try cleaning the maf later today, i have maf cleaner, im running 11.2psi of boost and it has 2g 550cc injectors, also i watched a video on the cam angle sensor and it usually makes the car run like crap and stall out, my car dosnt run like crap and it idles fine...

so 3 mafs have problems? according to my friend all 3 are compatable, but if a maf was bad wouldnt it run horrible and idle like crap? car doesnt run like crap it just fully loses power down to idle as you can see in my video.. what wires being loose could cause this, cars been running great till this happened...

I was referring to maf cleaner. Make sure the maf you are using can be cleaned with MAF cleaner. The OEM one cannot be cleaned with MAF cleaner.

The stock mass air flow sensor on both 1&2g's are karmen vortex style. The gm is a hot wire, which gets up to about 450° and can get covered in contaminants that get baked on and won't read correctly. That's what the cleaner is for, also check the wiring to the sensor, box and to the ecu for any visually obvious problems.

He said he is using a 3 inch gm maf.[DOUBLEPOST=1412537061][/DOUBLEPOST]

I agree ! That's why I recommend the cleaner. You should also check the maft box. Open Iit up and check the wires and also smell it to see if something burned up inside

Looks like you either have a boost leak, bad tune, a problem with the maf, or its signal.

Also, 2g injectors are not 550cc, they are 450cc just like 1g injectors. What are the settings on your maft?

Hence my suggestion to check instead outright saying that MAF cleaner could not be used period.

I just wanted to tell what fixed my problem, apparently the clip that holds the plug for the cam sensor on popped off and it was getting intermitent signals, after pushing the plug in all the way it drove perfect, now i got to buy a clip so it dosnt keep falling off..
